Humber’s flag is at half-mast today in honour of the passing of Lauren Bouchard, a Humber ECE graduate and University of Guelph-Humber student. Lauren died in a traffic accident on Monday, October 10. Please join us in remembering our student, friend and classmate.
Gratitude Hall a First for Humber

The Office of Advancement & Alumni Relations is pleased to announce the launch of Gratitude Hall, a key area at Humber dedicated to celebrating and recognizing our supporters, alumni and friends. Gratitude Hall, the link space and main pathway connecting the Learning Resource Commons building and the broader campus, also remains an inviting space for students to study, interact and reflect. The name ‘Gratitude Hall’ was selected to convey the importance and significance of the term and the College’s desire to show its appreciation to its many supporters who are committed to make Humber a great place for our students to learn, grow and thrive.
The centerpiece of Gratitude Hall is Humber’s first donor and alumni recognition wall that includes a physical donor wall with four levels of engraved recognition tiles and a digital immersive technology system that consists of five large touch screens.
The design inspiration behind the recognition system comes from the College’s connection to the Humber River and the surrounding campus green spaces. Each tile represents a single stone in the riverbed, the foundation of the river, presenting the generosity and support provided by donors. The students are represented by the water, flowing through the College as they advance in their career journey. The ways in which light interacts with the varying depths and finishes replicates the river’s flowing water creating an ever-changing, shimmering surface forming a memorable image.
To be officially unveiled in November, this warm and inviting area will be a visual celebration of Humber’s many individual, corporate, foundation, donor and strategic partnership investments, as well as recognize the ongoing support of community associations and societies for the College.
In addition to recognizing the generosity of the community, this beautiful space will help build and strengthen relationships with Humber’s 215,000 plus alumni to encourage current and future support.

On Wednesday October 19th, BeaverTails food truck will be onsite at Humber Lakeshore Campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside of AB building courtyard.
On Thursday October 20th, Beavertails will be back at North Campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside of the Tim Horton’s in “E” building and from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. out front of the residence. Don’t miss it!

A mainstay in an industry that is constantly evolving, Suter's ability to adapt quickly and navigate an ever-changing landscape has helped NBCUniversal remain an industry leader while maintaining a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Under Suter’s leadership NBCUniversal has doubled its sales volume over the last decade.

Jill Andrew is a transformational leader in contemporary culture. She’s an award-winning columnist, public speaker, scholar, student equity advisor, youth, women’s activist, and media consultant on body image, empowerment, leadership and representation.
She created Body Confidence Canada Awards (BCCAs), Toronto International Body Image Film & Arts Festival, FatinTheCity and is co-editor of the highly anticipated anthology: In Our Skin: Our Bodies, Our Stories. Jill is an activist fighting to get body-based harassment (i.e. size discrimination) included as a protected ground in the Ontario Human Rights Code so no child or adult has to be the target of body-shaming.

Laila Biali is an award-winning internationally recognized Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist. Her accolades include "SOCAN Composer of the Year," "Keyboardist of the Year" at Canada's National Jazz Awards, along with a JUNO nomination.
Biali has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Tokyo's Cotton Club and Carnegie Hall in New York City. She has collaborated with many internationally renowned artists in her industry, including Chris Botti, Paula Cole, Suzanne Vega and Sting.
Biali was recently on tour this summer presenting her latest projects at venues across Canada and speaking at the first-ever 2016 Global TEDSummit.

Peter DundasAmbulance & Emergency Care, 1981 |
An honours graduate in Ambulance and Emergency Care, Peter Dundas is Chief and Director of Paramedical Services, Regional Municipality of Peel, committed to getting the right tools to paramedics so they can deliver the highest level of care possible to the public. These tools include break-through developments like increasing cardiac arrest survival rates as well as faster turn-around times for paramedics in the hospital.
Dundas led the SARS response team for Region of Peel Paramedic Services, and was the operational lead for the Ebola Virus Disease response plans for the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care, Emergency Health Services Branch.

Andy KikitesCivil Engineering Technician; Civil Engineering Technology |
Andy Kikites is an internationally recognized expert in the art and science of bridge engineering, working with noted international planners and architects on some of the largest projects in the world, including Palm Island, Dubai; Sir BaniYas Island, Abu Dhabi; Tappan Zee Bridge in New York; and currently as Director for the largest transit program in the world, the $40B RER program for Metrolinx.
Kikites has become a highly respected role model to a new generation of engineering students, and has advanced the industry through design innovation. He has authored research papers on innovative materials, structural systems, and bridge rehabilitation and preservation techniques.

Giacomo GianniottiTheatre Arts – Performance, 2012 |
Giacomo Gianniotti is an Italian-Canadian actor best known for playing Dr. Andrew DeLuca on ABC’s hit television show, Grey’s Anatomy. In just three years, Gianniotti has become an internationally celebrated actor and Emmy Nominee, after appearing in the hit television shows Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), and Reign, as well as the major motion pictures, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe and most recently, Race. In 2015 he premiered his short film, Still, at the Toronto International Film Festival. Gianniotti has also become an advocate for philanthropic causes including My Friend's Place, All Hands Volunteers and SickKids Hospital.

In support of Public Safety’s efforts to provide a safe campus environment for the Humber community, Information Technology Services is adding a new safety feature to Humber’s telephones.
All telephones are being outfitted with a new Alert button. The button functions like a silent alarm. Pressing the button discretely notifies Public Safety an urgent security response is needed.
Examples of circumstances when pressing the Alert button may be appropriate include the following:
Note that the Alert Button does not replace the 4000 Emergency Line.
The new button goes live October 15th. No action is required to receive the feature.[i] All telephones, including phones in learning spaces (classrooms, labs, etc.), will be outfitted with the new button.
IMPORTANT: The off-hook feature will be discontinued October 17th; use the Alert Button if an urgent security response is needed.
Again, the new Alert button does not replace the 4000 Emergency Line. Please continue to call 416.675.6622 x4000 if you experience an emergency, witness a crime in process, or require urgent assistance.
