Humber students from Fashion Arts, Creative Photography, Multi Media Production and the Fashion Management Degree program proudly unveiled their most recent Visual Merchandising creation, titled, "Queen of Ice". The display which was loosely based on the popular children's Disney movie, "Frozen" will be featured at the high profile street front location of The Fashion Institute, 3166 Lakeshore Blvd. West for several weeks for public viewing.

Pristine white gowns adorned with hundreds of reflective crystals were highlighted against a trendy tiffany blue backdrop. Enormous icicles manufactured from melted plastic were suspended in the foreground of the display creating a transparent curtain of faux ice, adding visual interest and depth, to the presentation. White feathered wigs introduced a fantasy element to this display, while hundreds of feet of feminine tiffany blue tulle fabric framed the entire space.

Students worked around the clock for several days to complete the entire window installation. Marketing materials such as time lapse video of behind the scenes action and professional photographs were created to assist students in the process of building their own personal portfolios for self promotion.

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Bob Richardson as the new Associate Dean of the School of Media Studies & Information Technology. Following a very competitive process, Bob was selected from a very strong pool of internal and external candidates to manage a portfolio of programs that includes: Public Relations (Degree, Diploma and Graduate Certificate), Bachelor of Creative Advertising, Advertising Copywriting Graduate Certificate, Advertising Account Management Graduate Certificate, Advertising & Marketing Communications Diploma, Fundraising Management Graduate
Certificate, Web Development Graduate Certificate, and Media Foundations Certificate.

Bob is a great example of a success story for the School of Media Studies & Information Technology. An Honours graduate from our very own Film & Television Production Diploma, he continued his studies at Laurentian University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts, and later a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University.

A long-time and valued team member, Bob started working with our school as a Media Technician & Distribution Coordinator in 2003, and began teaching for the University of Guelph-Humber in 2008. In 2009, he was promoted to the position of Professor & Program Coordinator of the Media Foundations program. Under his leadership, the program has expanded from 140 to 240 students and has become one of the most successful stories of pathways and options at the college. Last year, 130 Media Foundations graduates continued towards higher credentials at Humber, including diplomas and degrees.

Bob’s multi-faceted experience with the School of Media Studies & Information Technology, along with his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence in teaching and learning, are very valuable assets that will allow him to significantly contribute to the success of our school.

Please join me in congratulating Bob in his appointment and wishing him success in his new role.

Sincerely,
Guillermo Acosta, Dean
School of Media Studies & I.T.
