Degree Consent Renewal
The Bachelor of Commerce (Hospitality and Tourism Management) is applying for consent renewal, as its consent will expire in April, 2015. A collaboration between the School of Business and the School of Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism, this innovative program is the first joint degree offered at Humber. As with all of Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce degrees, the program begins with the common two-year platform of foundational business courses, which is followed in years three and four by specialization courses in hospitality and tourism, focusing on the strategic, technological and managerial skills necessary in the hospitality and tourism industry. To date, there have been 33 graduates from the program.
In conformity with the PEQAB requirements, the program is currently undergoing a program review. An external panel consisting of two professors from other postsecondary institutions and one internal academic administrator from outside the School conducted an assessment of the program on February 25. The self-study completed by the School and the results from the external assessment will be submitted as part of the application for consent renewal.
