Humber College has partnered with Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) to help at-risk and newcomer youth (ages 6-15) by connecting them with Peer Mentors. They will be hosting a series of information sessions (see dates & times below) for Humber students (ages 16 - 29) who may be interested in signing up as Peer Mentors.

Mentors are matched with a mentee for one year and spend three hours a week together. They can play sports or watch movies together, learn life skills like cooking, attend free events like Blue Jays and Raptors games, and more!

Youth Assisting Youth runs an award-winning volunteer program that will provide students with all the support and training they need to impact the lives of high-risk and newcomer kids. They will learn how to build youth resilience through training in positive role-modelling, child behaviour management, anti-discrimination, child abuse awareness and youth mental health and learning disabilities. It also provides an opportunity for students to grow critical thinking skills, leadership abilities and volunteer experience that employers are looking for.
