Humber will raise the Trans and Pride flags on Monday, June 3 at 10 a.m. in front of the LRC at North Campus and at 2 p.m. in front of the Welcome Centre at Lakeshore Campus.

Immediately following the flag raising, we invite you to a reception in the LGBTQ+ Resource Centres.

The flag raising is a symbolic representation of Humber’s support for LGBTQ+ students, staff and faculty, and the broader community. The flags are a symbol to all staff and students of the College that LGBTQ+ people are welcome and belong at Humber.

The event will be approximately 30 minutes long and will not have seating.

Join the Etobicoke Master Gardeners (EMG) inside the Centre for Urban Ecology to learn about the pests and pathogens that may show up in local gardens - plus how to deal with them if they show up in yours!

This workshop is part of the Eco-Garden Community Workshop series hosted by the Etobicoke Master Gardeners and Humber Arboretum throughout the year.

Are you interested in bringing experiential learning into your courses? Would you like to find new industry partners for an existing experiential course or capstone?

Applied Research & Innovation is piloting Riipen, a new tool to make it easier for educators to embed industry projects and live case studies directly in curriculum.

We invite you to join a workshop on May 30 to learn about this new project-based experiential learning resource. During this session, you'll find out how you can make courses in your specific subject area experiential and get immediate support to connect your students with course-aligned projects from companies and nonprofits. By the end of the session, you will learn have learned:

  • How to join Riipen, Humber’s new online project-based experiential learning ecosystem
  • How to easily design an experiential assignment or capstone for your students using this resource
  • How to connect with employers who can provide your students with curriculum-aligned projects

Please bring your laptop so you can follow along and create a project-based experience with our support.

Save the date! Advisor Training Day May 29-30th. The theme is "Building Resiliency in Times of Change"

Join us for the fourth annual Advisor Training Day on May 29 at North Campus and May 30 at Lakeshore Campus. This year’s theme is Building Resilience in Times of Change, and we invite advisors, faculty, and staff from all departments and academic faculties at Humber to discuss, share, and learn about advising techniques, skills and issues that affect us all.

On May 29, Dr. Rumeet Billan will be delivering the keynote “The PsyCap Mindset for Resilience” sharing the four components of psychological capital that lead to resilience and explore strategies to enhance it on a personal and professional level in order to develop a competitive advantage. She will be selling her book Who do I want to become at the end of her presentation.

A two-part workshop for faculty.

Come and explore best practices for choosing content and building a portfolio that truly reflects who you are as an educator.  In part one you will discuss what to include and discover a process for choosing the best artefacts for inclusion.  In part two you will use a template and familiarize yourself with a free, easy to use tool that can be fully customized to meet your vision.
