The Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDIB) is excited to continue our Community Conversations series, offering an open and inclusive space to connect, share, and foster a stronger campus community. These conversations provide the opportunity to discuss meaningful topics and explore how we can collectively make Humber Polytechnic more inclusive for all.

Through facilitated discussions, we will engage in thoughtful conversations that reflect our shared values of respect, collaboration, and community. Whether you are a student, staff, or faculty member, your voice is important in shaping the future of EDIB at Humber. Together, we can learn, grow, and build connections!

Our next Community Conversation, “Transforming Awareness into Action: Bringing Trans Allyship to Life in the Workplace,” focuses on moving from understanding to action in supporting our trans community members. Hosted by the Office of EDIB in partnership with The 519 Team, this event will highlight the significance of the Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) and the importance of dedicated allyship within our community and beyond.

Join us to:

  • Learn about the history and relevance of TDOR and other days of significance for trans communities.
  • Understand how to recognize and address transphobia and cissexism in workplace settings.
  • Leave with practical strategies for trans-affirming allyship, equipping you to be a positive force for change.

Event Details:

This session offers an insightful and interactive experience, including time for questions, reflections, and practical guidance from The 519 Team on strengthening our allyship practices and all are welcome to engage in this important conversation.

We look forward to your participation as we continue to build connections and foster a culture of belonging at Humber.

  • Friday November 29 - Environmental Impacts: Reciprocal Relationships

All sessions take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

No previous experience in nature or arts is necessary, and all materials will be provided to participants for free.

Participants can choose to submit their art for publication in a zine that will be distributed through various organizations in the Rexdale neighbourhood.

In a world facing unprecedented environmental challenges, educators play a crucial role in preparing future generations to think critically and act responsibly. This webinar will provide educators with practical tools and strategies to incorporate sustainability into their teaching across subjects.

Anke Föller-Carroll, PhD ABD will share how she incorporates sustainability throughout her tourism courses and discuss how each of her approaches are equally as applicable in any other program. This session will show a snapshot of teaching methods and content pieces throughout several of Anke’s courses that can be easily applied to other subject areas, followed by a Q&A opportunity.

This session is offered as part of AASHE's Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum program. The event is open to all professionals interested in the topic - feel free to share with your peers.
