Invitation to farewell reception for Jen McMillen, Dean of Students

In her time at Humber, Jen has been a champion for students, responsible for the vision, planning and implementation of programs and services designed to create a dynamic and supportive learning environment for our diverse population. She is a valued and respected leader within the Department of Student Success & Engagement, and across the institution.

To thank Jen for her many contributions, we are hosting a farewell reception on Thursday, November 29 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Humber Room at North Campus. We hope you can join us as we congratulate Jen on her new role as Vice-Provost, Students at Ryerson University.

Grammar & Business Writing Techniques Workshop

This intensive, interactive two half-day workshop focuses on communicating clearly and productively. Participants analyze communication situations, and write and revise to resolve those situations successfully. Using their own work-based messages, participants learn how to write for their audiences.

Note: Participants are encouraged to register for both Grammar & Business Writing Techniques sessions - Part 1 and Part 2 to benefit from the full learning outcomes of this workshop.

Sprout: Intrapreneurship Skills Based Training Program

This workshop is open to everyone and will benefit everyone. 

Description: Through this interactive workshop, participants will be provided with a framework modelled to enhance your productivity through understanding how your mind works, and taking action against limiting thought processes.

Topics to be discussed:

  • How the mind works (conscious vs subconscious mind, and their interplay with your overall results)
  • How to eradicate limiting beliefs (strengthen self image)
  • How to pitch your company/service or self
  • How to effectively influence
  • How to effectively network
  • How to beat procrastination
  • How to override current neural pathway patterns (critical for changing habits)
  • Mapping out the GAME PLAN with a 6 STEP SYSTEM
  • Techniques on how to get leverage over ourselves for follow through

Intended outcomes of the session:

  • You will have a greater sense of clarity of the direction you want to take for your business or career
  • You will have a framework you can use to brainstorm, deduce and prioritize day to day decisions that will ultimately lead them to their goals
  • You will have a better sense of how your minds work so you can get control over your emotional state so things like procrastination can become a thing of the past
  • You will have a greater level of confidence in how to pitch you products, services or yourself

Lunch & Learn - The Power of Sleep from A to Zzzz

Sleep is critical to ensure maximum productivity. It increases your ability to concentrate and focus, allows you to approach challenges with a more positive attitude, and can have positive effects on your memory and health. In this session, participants will learn about circadian rhythms and the impact that disrupting these key biological processes can have on their day-to-day activities and work. This session will also describe sleep’s vital role in maintaining health along with valuable and practical tips and strategies that participants can apply to get quality, restful sleep and stay alert.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Recognize the value of restful sleep
  • Apply strategies to improve sleep quality
  • Implement practical tips to improve alertness
