The Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Diversity is inviting you to honour the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The event is held on December 6 to remember the 12 vicitms of the 1989 Montreal massacre and to raise awareness of gender-based violence in Canada and around the world.

The event will be live streamed. Roses will be distributed and hot beverages will be served.

Presenter: Sonia Thakur, Accessibility Services Consultant

Sonia is an educator for more than 10 years with expertise in equity and diversity issues, accessibility and universal design for learning, human resources and teaching.

She holds a license in Psychology from Argentina and is a Canadian Human Resources Professional who has worked both in the United States and Canada in higher education. In her career, Sonia has been invested in understanding challenges to academic success of students with different abilities and implementing practices to foster an inclusive environment for all students.

In her current role as an Accessibility Consultant, she provides services for students with disabilities on an ongoing basis, liaises and provides training to faculty about Accessibility topics, facilitates the social group for students with Autism Spectrum, and is the co-chair of the College’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee. Sonia has been invested in inclusive practices in education around the world including South America, the United States and Canada.

The most energetic event of the year is Friday, November 30 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.!

Single riders or teams of up to eight people all ride together to raise money for the United Way.  Now in our ninth year, we have 3 TOP GTA spin instructors, terrific prizes, food, refreshments, sponsors on site - all to make your event even more enjoyable.

We have now waived the minimum amount of money you and your team have to raise! Remember, $25 gets you a tax receipt, $50 feeds a class of kids snacks for a month and $100 allows those with Alzheimer's help with daily living and transportation.

The event now is in Concourse E, North Campus. Here are some of our great sponsors that have donated prizes:

GNC, Stella & Dot, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Sweets From the Earth, Cineplex, GoodLife Fitness, David's Teas, Pizza Pizza, MODO (formerly Moksha) Yoga on site for stretching help, to name a few!

Register in teams of one to eight people:

  • Space is limited to 25 teams
  • Students minimum pledge per team is $250
  • Faculty/staff minimum pledge per team is $500

Donate $15 and ride for 15 minutes! You will be eligible for door prizes and get to enjoy refreshments.

You're invited to watch the Culinary, Nutrition and Baking students cook their own original recipes for the title of best healthy dish!

To qualify for the competition, students had to submit their own healthy recipe, which includes at least one Minor's Base or Flavour Concentrate. A panel of special guest judges will watch students prepare these recipes live and select the best recipe for a grand prize of $1,000!
