There are a series of fun events planned in support of Humber’s United Way campaign. Come out and participate, or support someone who is taking part.

October 21-23 2015 – White Elephant Sale (Lakeshore Campus)

10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Our White Elephant sale is bigger and better this year! Visit the A Building display area (outside A170) from October 21-23 from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for some great, gently used bargains.

November 4, 2015 – Lakeshore Tunnel Tours (Lakeshore Campus)

12 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Join Humber business professor and local history buff Steve Bang on a journey back in time at the Lakeshore Campus, once known as the Mimico Asylum. Learn the history behind the buildings now known as the Cottages, and see firsthand the extensive tunnel system. Open to Humber students, staff and faculty only.

Cost: $5.00 per person (includes a cookie and drink).

November 4, 5 and 6 – Paint the Town Red (Humber Spa, North Campus)

Come have your nail polish changed for a good cause! Students at the Humber Spa will be offering  nail polish changes, with all proceeds benefitting United Way.

November 7 – United Way CN Tower Stair Climb

6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Join the Humber community and climb all 1,776 steps of the CN Tower for United Way. We promise the view from the top is worth the climb!

December 4 – United Way Spin-a-Thon (Athletics Centre, North Campus)

Gather up a team of four students, faculty and/or staff and raise money for United Way! Each team member will spin for 15 minutes at a time. Awards will be issued for top fundraising teams, individuals and for the most team spirit.

  • Develop confidence to approaching expected and unexpected challenging conversations
  • Utilize the ‘understand first’ principle when addressing concerns, problems and conflict
  • Learn how to apply a variety of successful assertive practices (strategies & techniques) into everyday interactions and communications through various case studies and role playing activities
  • Develop resiliency and composure using ‘respond vs react’ strategies when dealing with provoking or intense interactions.

2. Giving Insightful Feedback

In this session you will:

Back by popular demand, the HumberLaunch Fall Workshop Series is a 6 course series discussing a variety of topics on entrepreneurship and providing the tools you need to launch your startup business or idea.

Join us for our second workshop installment of the series on Business Plan Development with industry professional Arlene Rogers. This workshop is focused on providing the proper structure and criteria to build a great business plan. For eligible students applying for the New Venture Seed Fund competition, this workshop is beneficial and can push them one step ahead.
