1) What types of group fitness classes are offered?

We offer a wide variety of group exercise classes to cater to different preferences and fitness levels. Our class offerings include BootCamp, Zumba, Yoga, Cycle, Pilates, Beginner Women’s Strength & many more. Whether you are looking for high-intensity workouts, dance-inspired sessions, mind-body connection, or cardio-focused routines, we have something for everyone.

2) Is there an additional fee to attend group fitness classes?

No, there is no additional fee to attend our group exercise classes. Access the Fitness Centre and the group exercise classes are included in the Athletics fee paid as a part of your tuition and community membership as well as current staff.

3) Can everyone join the classes, regardless of their fitness levels?

Our group fitness classes welcome a variety of fitness levels, and instructors offer modifications when possible. We encourage participants to review class descriptions, listen to their bodies, and work at a level that feels right for them. If you have any limitations or concerns, please arrive early and chat with the instructor so they can help support your experience.

4) Do I need to bring any equipment or accessories for the classes?

You won't need to bring any equipment or accessories as we provide everything needed for each class. However, it's always a good idea to bring a water bottle and a towel to stay hydrated and wipe off any sweat.

5) How can I join a group exercise class?

Joining a group fitness class is easy! Simply check the schedule of classes offered at your campus fitness center and choose the ones that interest you. Most classes operate on a drop-in basis, meaning you can attend without prior registration. Just show up a few minutes before the scheduled start time, and our instructors will guide you through an invigorating and fun workout.

Note:  Late entry is not permitted. We encourage you to check out our instagram for last minute changes. These are posted in our stories. @humberlakeshore_athletics @humberfitnessnorth

6) Can I arrive late to classes?

Arriving late to group exercise classes is not permitted, as it can disrupt the flow of the class and impact both your experience and that of other participants—especially in focused classes like yoga, where instructors prioritize a calm, intentional environment. Missing the warm-up and class structure review due to late arrival also increases the risk of injury. For safety reasons, we ask you arrive on time for class.

7) Where do I find the class schedules?

You can find them on our website and on our Instagram.

8) Where do I leave my belongings?

Please store your belongings in the day-use lockers. We recommend bringing your own lock to secure your items. For safety and cleanliness, bags, coats, and other personal items are not permitted on the floor or in the studios. If brought into these spaces, you may be asked to return them to a locker.

9) What should I wear to classes?

Please wear comfortable athletic clothing and clean indoor athletic shoes. Outdoor footwear, Crocs, Uggs, flip flops, and bare feet are not permitted, except for Yoga and Pilates classes held in studio spaces.

10) Where are changes or cancellations posted?

Our instructors always do their best to avoid cancellations, but occasionally last-minute situations arise. When this happens, we make every effort to find a substitute instructor.

All class cancellations, substitutions, and schedule changes are primarily shared on our Instagram stories & outside the studio. When possible, updates are also posted on our website’s fitness schedule page.

We aim to replace cancelled classes with a similar offering whenever possible; however, there may be times when a different class is substituted so we can continue to provide an option for our community.

You can call the front desk prior and have them check for you:

11) Injuries or Pregnancy?

If you are pregnant, managing an injury or health concern  we recommend seeking medical clearance before participating. Instructors may offer general modifications, but participants are responsible for choosing movements that feel safe for their own bodies. Please listen to your body, work within a pain-free range, and arrive early to speak with the instructor if you have any limitations.

12) How often are the Fitness Class Schedules updated?

Fitness class schedules are updated on a semester basis. During the month of December and summer months, class offerings may be reduced due to lower participation and a smaller student population. Schedules are subject to change at any time.
