The external awards, bursaries, and scholarships, listed below, are available to students beyond the scholarships and bursaries Humber College offers. They are provided and administered through external government, corporate, or community organizations.

Jamaican Canadian Association of Nurses (JCAN) Annual Scholarship Information

Criteria: 

  • Students must be of Afro-Caribbean Canadian descent/heritage.
  • Currently enrolled in second year or higher of a nursing program.
  • A minimum B+ average or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • Submit a letter from the academic institution that states student’s current standing and level of achievement in the program.
  • A minimum of two recommendations are required. One must be from your professor or instructor from the academic institution you are currently enrolled, and the second letter should be from a volunteer organization and signed by your immediate supervisor. Family members/relatives/students are not eligible to write recommendations.
  • Be able to articulate current and ongoing financial need.
  • Preference may be given to those who have not received any previous scholarship from the Jamaican Canadian Association of Nurses Education Scholarship fund.

The Recipient of the Scholarship must:

  • Be prepared to participate in future award ceremonies and serve as a role model for others in the JCAN community.

  • Support JCAN’s mission: Give back, Give health, as demonstrated by student involvement in volunteer activities and leadership roles.

  • Demonstrate evidence of ongoing participation in health projects with JCAN or the wider communities through volunteerism.

Pink Pearl Scholarship

Criteria:

  1. Canadian woman between the ages of 18-40, diagnosed with cancer between 18-40. *If you’re in remission/have overcome your cancer journey, you must have been diagnosed/still be between 18-40 to apply.
  2. Attending a Canadian postsecondary institution as a full- or part-time student as of September 2019 (if not currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution, the scholarship is contingent on acceptance by July 1, 2019).
  3. Currently or previously involved in extracurricular activities.
  4. Minimum grade average of 65% or higher in your last year of study.

Scholarship Program for Engineering Students in USA and Canada

Criteria: Only those applicants are eligible to compete in the Engineering Scholarship Program for USA & CANADA Students, who to submit an essay of around 1,500 to 2,000 words. The winner will be selected on the quality of the essay that has been submitted.

  • To enter, applicants are encouraged to send their essay submission to sunnyc@aistechnolabs.com, along with their name, college/university, expected year of graduation, and intended major.
  • The winner will be notified individually and announced on or around the next following month. It is a yearly program which gives students a chance to portray their work and shine in their majors.

How to Apply: To apply for the scholarship program for engineering students, you need to submit a project relevant to your course of study. For example, if you have enrolled or planning to enroll for civil engineering, you can submit a project on designing an earthquake proof building or something which includes a new idea and innovative approach.

The B. Harper Bull Scholarship Awards 2019

Criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a college, university or trade school within Canada
  • Must be a legal resident of Canada
