Celebrating a Legacy of Impact: Honouring Dr. Dan Andreae’s Transformative Support

On November 21, 2025, members of the Humber Polytechnic community gathered to celebrate an extraordinary milestone in student achievement and donor generosity. The annual Dr. Dan Andreae Scholarship Celebration brought together this year’s award recipients – along with past scholars, faculty, and leadership – to recognize the life-changing impact of Dr. Andreae’s longstanding commitment to student success.

The event was filled with moments that reflected the heart of Dr. Andreae’s legacy: meaningful conversations, proud smiles and the powerful exchange between a donor who deeply believes in education and the students whose futures he is shaping. In addition to remarks from Humber leadership, scholarship recipient Isaac Opoku Mensah shared heartfelt words of gratitude with Dr. Andreae and guests.

“As a young Black man who journeyed all the way from the Gold Coast of Africa to pursue my education in Canada, this achievement means more to me than words can describe,” said Isaac. “This scholarship has done more than provide financial relief – it has reminded me that perseverance, faith, and kindness still exist in the world.”

Over the last decade, Dr. Dan Andreae’s generosity has supported 318 scholarships and bursaries to students across the Faculties of Health & Life Sciences, Social and Community Services, and Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Many students shared how his support has eased financial hardship, strengthened their confidence, and opened pathways in their budding careers. Their stories of gratitude and impact demonstrate the ripple effect of Dr. Andreae’s belief in their potential.
