Entrepreneurship Takes Centre Stage at the 2025 BMO Launch Me Competition

Humber Polytechnic’s commitment to fostering the entrepreneurial spirit was on full display at the 2025 BMO Launch Me Competition, held at the BMO Innovation Commons, Lakeshore Campus on March 20, 2025.

Made possible thanks to generous support from BMO Financial Group, the event marked a continued commitment to equipping students with the skills, resources, and confidence they need to turn business ideas into action. Gina Antonacci, Senior Vice-President, Academic extended a warm thank you to BMO for their enduring partnership and support. She acknowledged the BMO reviewers, judges, and special guests in attendance, including Jamie Doolittle, Head, Business Banking, Central Region, BMO Financial Group.

This year’s competition followed a dynamic day of student pitches, with participants presenting their business ideas to a panel of expert judges under three pitch streams that recognize and supports emerging entrepreneurs at different stages and backgrounds, creating space for inclusive innovation. The 2025 BMO Launch Me Competition first place winners from each category include:

BMO Women Innovators Competition: Feven Zewdu presented Coming to Fruition, a non-profit focused on empowering low-income women with new skills and resources.

BMO Groundbreaker Competition: Andrew Allan and Reyhan Tressler shared their idea for EDU-Mechs, an EdTech company simplifying STEM education through hands-on learning.

BMO New Graduate Start-Up Competition: Joanna Harding-Duggan presented her vision for JHD Coaching, a wellness coaching business to support students and professionals who have ADHD.  

The event also celebrated recipients of the BMO Entrepreneurship Scholarships which recognizes students who embody the entrepreneurial spirit and are actively engaging with business innovation at Humber.

Closing remarks from Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, President & CEO of Humber, and BMO’s Jamie Doolittle underscored the power of partnership in advancing student potential. “To the BMO Launch Me Competition finalists and scholarship recipients¾continue to excel and challenge the status quo. You are the innovators our society and economy need,” said Jamie.
