July 11 - 23, 2026, weekdays (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)
This certificate is designed for educators to develop foundational and applied competencies in generative AI and to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Learners will gain a foundational understanding of how generative AI works and the implications for the traditional models of teaching, learning and assessing, while also exploring the ethical, social and pedagogical implications of their use. Learners will also reflect on their teaching practices and identify ways that Generative AI could support them, while also exploring how these tools can be used by students to support and improve their learning experiences and development of knowledge. This certificate will also focus on strategies for designing assessments that integrate Generative AI in a meaningful way while still ensuring that authentic learning is occurring and that learning outcomes are being met. To culminate their learning, program participants will engage in a problem-based project course where they will identify a pedagogical problem and apply their learnings and the application of AI tools to solve this problem.
This certificate program has two core courses including:
1. Micro-credential in “Teaching and Learning with Generative AI
The micro-credential consist of four modules as follows:
- Module 1: Foundations of Generative AI
- Module 2: Critical Engagement with AI
- Module 3: Generative AI in Education
- Module 4: Generative AI and Learning Design
2. Pedagogical Problem-based Project Course
This course empowers educators to explore the opportunities and challenges of generative AI technologies in teaching and learning. The learners will gain practical strategies for using AI ethically to solve pedagogical problems. Through expert insights, student perspectives and a collaborative problem-based project, learners will design innovative solutions for the pedagogical problem using AI tools.
You will learn how to:
- Assess your own readiness for integrating Generative AI technologies into teaching practice;
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of what Generative AI is and how it functions;
- Reflect on the potential impact that Generative AI technologies will have on teaching and learning, and knowledge practices more broadly;
- Understand the potential for generative AI to support learners and contribute to more inclusive learning environments;
- Contribute to the design and delivery of educational experiences exhibiting an awareness of the positive and negative potential of Generative AI;
- Design AI-enriched assessments that demonstrate considerate use of Generative AI technologies;
- Use AI technology to solve pedagogical problems.
