Allan Brown Capital Development and Facilities Management

“He is always especially happy to provide mentorship to our work-study students, recognizing the benefit of supporting and encouraging the next generation of skilled workers!”

Dave Frigole, Associate Manager of North Campus Central Plant Services, CDFM

Allan has continuously shown commitment and dedication to his department through his positive work ethic and determination to exceed. He excels in any task he is given, often going above and beyond to ensure that he sees all his tasks to completion, doing so while providing great customer service to the college community.

Several years ago, Allan was tasked with overseeing the maintenance and repair of Humber’s North Campus life safety fire system and the permit process for contractors to follow when working within the College. Allan's direct involvement and oversight of the North Campus fire system has allowed for the expediting of Capital works projects with a drastic reduction of false alarms. Allan has been instrumental in ensuring that our massive fire system is operating in peak condition and takes his work seriously when it comes to dealing with the safety of his team and the College community.

Allan is a senior member of the Central Plant team and always engages in sharing his knowledge and experience with co-workers and work-study students, emphasizing the importance of knowledge transfer both for the team and the College as a whole. He is always especially happy to provide mentorship to our work-study students, recognizing the benefit of supporting and encouraging the next generation of skilled workers!

Naomi is highly collaborative and has an innovative vision for how to schedule programming in ways that create new possibilities and options for students. She constantly finds opportunities to improve our programming, and she steps forward to promote new ideas and practices related to our scheduling challenges and modes of delivery.

Naomi always steps up to assist students and uses her knowledge of MyHumber from Scheduling and Records to help students find solutions to their registration needs. She has also held the role of a teacher in the past and this experience gives her a unique perspective, as she often can relate to students and faculty on all levels.

Naomi is always ready to lend a hand to her team and to her peers. No job is too big or too small. Whether it is supporting her colleagues and FLAS leadership to meet deadlines, working across faculties and departments, invigilating an exam, providing support at an event, or convocation marshalling, Naomi is always ready to volunteer her help, and often takes the lead, setting an example to her peers. She inspires us with her passion for Humber and our students.

She has developed a strong rapport with all those she interacts with and is a welcome beacon for those who visit FLAS. Naomi is an active participant in many FLAS initiatives and has been key in shaping our support staff and scheduling best practices. Naomi was one of the first in FLAS to participate in Humber's sustainability initiatives and will share her findings with her peers, often encouraging them to get involved.

In addition, Naomi is on College Council and has been a valued contributor to the mindfulness, equity, diversity and inclusion focus that FLAS has fostered as part of Humber's many initiatives, by sharing, participating and being an ally to many cohorts/ groups in Humber’s diverse community. It's people like Naomi that help Humber's culture to thrive.
