Mackenzie has been a proactive advocate for Universal Design for Learning (UDL) at Humber Polytechnic and his efforts have significantly contributed to the adoption of UDL principles across various courses, enhancing the educational experience to accommodate all learners, and fostering an inclusive academic community. 

Mackenzie Ketchell is a passionate, thoughtful, and caring educator within his program. Mackenzie has been a proactive advocate for Universal Design for Learning (UDL) at Humber Polytechnic and his efforts have significantly contributed to the adoption of UDL principles across various courses, enhancing the educational experience to accommodate all learners, and fostering an inclusive academic community. Mackenzie’s commitment to UDL has not only improved accessibility but also enriched the learning environment by embracing diversity in teaching methods and student engagement. 

Mackenzie's commitment to Humber faculty and UDL are perfectly exemplified by his co-chairing a community of practice on UDL where faculty members can come together to share current challenges and seek support, to discuss current research findings, and to rely upon peer-mentors for advice and support. Mackenzie's continued growth and commitment has enabled him to facilitate 2 courses in the Inclusive Curriculum Design certificate. The courses are a deeper dive into UDL and require the facilitator to model best practices, to design for diversity, to be checking with the audience to create more inclusive learning experiences, to be adaptive and flexible.

He has taken a leadership role in mentoring his peers, sharing best practices, and fostering an inclusive academic community. Throughout his time at Humber, Mackenzie has continually received positive feedback from learners, which speaks to his dedication to cultivating inclusive learning environments for all.
