Program Overview

The Real Estate Broker Program is for active real estate salespersons who are currently registered with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) and aspire to continue their education to become a registered real estate broker. Register for the Broker Qualifying Exam to start the process.

If you are not a registered real estate salesperson in Ontario and are interested in starting a career in real estate, you must first complete the Real Estate Salesperson Program.

Program Structure

The Real Estate Broker Program has been designed for your success. You can start your coursework online at any point during the year, without the commitment of a full-time, semester-based program. The program learning path comprises of three steps.

Successful completion of the Broker Qualifying Exam is a requirement to getting started with the Real Estate Broker Program. The Broker Qualifying Exam is designed to test working knowledge on the key areas involved in the trading of real estate in Ontario and is three hours in duration. Upon completing Step 1, you are now eligible to get started with Course 1 of the Real Estate Broker Program. This step comprises of 4 courses, 1 wrap-up session and 1 exam which must be completed sequentially. You have 12 months to complete the Real Estate Broker Program.

Exam

Upon completing Step 2, you are now eligible to register with RECO as a broker. To register with RECO you must have successfully completed the Real Estate Broker Program and must have been employed as a salesperson for at least 24 of the 36 months immediately preceding the date of application. Please visit the RECO website for more information about all Broker Registration Requirements.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission to the Real Estate Broker Program, an applicant must be an active real estate salesperson currently registered with RECO. All applicants are required to successfully complete the Broker Qualifying Exam before getting started with the Real Estate Broker Program.

Successful completion of the Real Estate Broker Program is one of the requirements to register with RECO as a real estate broker.

Fees

The Real Estate Broker Program has been designed to follow a pay as you go model. That means you pay for each component of the program as you progress through the program instead of paying the total program fees all at once.
