Applying with a Diploma or Equivalent
To qualify for admission to the Real Estate Salesperson Program, an applicant must provide proof of successful completion of a Canadian or United States Secondary School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) certification, Canadian Adult Education Certificate (CAEC) or acceptable post-secondary equivalent credentials.
Acceptable Equivalency Credentials
- Transcript, diploma or certificate (from a country other than Canada or the United States) previously assessed at an Ontario Secondary School Diploma level by a recognized assessment service, such as World Education Services (WES)
- Ontario College Certificate
- Post-secondary diploma or degree from Canada or the United States
- Post-secondary diploma or degree (from a country other than Canada or the United States) assessed as equivalent to a Canadian post-secondary diploma or degree by a recognized assessment service, such as World Education Services (WES)
- Certificate of completion for an Ontario academic upgrading program that is accepted by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology for entry into an Ontario post-secondary program (Ontario Basic Skills Level IV, Basic Training and Skills Development Level IV)
- Certificate of completion of an academic upgrading program from another Canadian jurisdiction that is accepted by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology for entry into an Ontario post-secondary program
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Certificate of Qualification in any trade from Ontario or other Canadian jurisdiction
How to Apply to the Real Estate Salesperson Program
Step 1: Review the Admission Requirements
- Before you begin, make sure you meet the program’s admission criteria.
Step 2: Create Your Humber Account
- A RECO ID is a required identifier and must be included in your Humber account. Click here to create your RECO MyWeb Account.
- After creating your RECO MyWeb account, you will receive an email from RECO with the subject New MyWeb Account – Confirm Your Email Address.
- In the email, click the Confirm your email address button. You will then be directed to log in to your MyWeb account.
- After logging in, the Setup page will appear automatically. If it does not appear, go to the Dashboard, click on Registration Education, and select Humber Polytechnic.
- You will be redirected back to Humber to create your Humber account. If you already have a Humber account, you must login.
- Your RECO ID will appear automatically in your profile. Be sure to click Save in your profile to save your RECO ID.
- After your Humber account is created, you will receive an email with your Humber username and password.
Step 3: Start Your Application
- Complete the Real Estate Salesperson Program Application
- Submit all required documents
- Pay the $125 non-refundable application fee to finalize your application
Important Notes
- The RECO MyWeb account and ID is used to match learner records between Humber and RECO. It does not confirm eligibility.
- Your Humber and RECO accounts are separate, and both are required to complete your application.
Applying Without a Diploma or Equivalent
The Real Estate Education Program Office offers a Salesperson Program Admission Exam to applicants WITHOUT a secondary school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of the Salesperson Program Admissions Exam is an acceptable equivalent to satisfy the education requirement for admission to the Real Estate Salesperson Program. The Salesperson Program Admission Exam does not satisfy the English language proficiency requirement and additional documentation will need to be provided. See the admission policy for further details.
Potential applicants should register for and successfully complete this exam before applying to the Real Estate Salesperson Program. Learners will be required to upload proof of successful completion of the Salesperson Program Admission Exam. The exam is available in an online format and delivered through virtual proctoring.
The registration fee for each exam is $125. Payments can be made with Visa or Mastercard.
NOTE: Only register for the Salesperson Program Admission Exam if you are applying WITHOUT a diploma or acceptable equivalent credential. Once you have completed and passed the Exam, you will be required to return and complete the Applying With a Diploma or Equivalent application process.
Step-by-Step Process
- Click the Register for the Salesperson Program Admission Exam button to register and pay for the Salesperson Admission Exam as the first part of your application process. The page will open in a new window so that you can follow the steps in this tutorial.
- Click the Proceed button on the Disclaimer pop-up window.
- When redirected to the ETS Portal, click Continue.
- Complete checkout.
- Within 2 business days, receive an email with a testing voucher and further instructions for scheduling the exam.
- Book an exam with Accuplacer. When you pass the exam, you will receive an official confirmation certificate.
- Return to the Real Estate Program Apply Now page and click Start the Application Process under Applying with a Diploma or Equivalent.
Salesperson Program Admission Exam Details
The Salesperson Program Admission Exam, designed and delivered through Accuplacer Next-Generation tests, will assess a learner’s knowledge in three key areas:
- Reading (20 questions)
- Writing (20 questions)
- Arithmetic (25 questions)
Each area is scored in the 200-to-300-point range. Achieving a minimum score of 250 in each area is required for admission into the Real Estate Salesperson Program. Applicants can re-take the exam at an additional fee of $125 to obtain the minimum required scores. The test is untimed, but most learners complete it in less than 90 minutes. All questions must be answered, one at a time, and you cannot go back to a previous question once you have answered it.

Reading
Next-Generation Reading assesses the test-taker’s ability to derive meaning from a range of texts and to determine the meaning of words and phrases in short and extended contexts. Passages on the test cover a range of content areas, writing modes, and complexities. Both single and paired passages are included. Four broad knowledge and skills categories are assessed:
