Campus Compass is Humber’s wayfinding app available for iOS and Android mobile smart devices. The wayfinding app will include the latest information about what is open this fall.

The app helps you navigate your way around North and Lakeshore campuses to a wide range of features such as classrooms, eateries, ATMs, accessible routes and options around campus, and much more. It will also include the latest information about what is open, so you can plan accordingly. 

The app even has a Find my Friend feature to connect you with your friends. The system has been designed for students and guests and has been optimized for tracking in common areas and learning environments.

The app is a valuable resource for the Humber community, in particular new and returning students and faculty/staff.

North Campus to be Closed on Sunday, May 30, 2021 &
Saturday, August 21, 2021

The Humber North Campus will be closed on Sunday, May 30, 2021 & Saturday, August 21, 2021. Students and employees will not be allowed entry into the College facilities (with the exception of Residence) during the hydro service interruption.

All mechanical, electrical and technology systems across North Campus will be offline during the shutdown.

Central systems including Banner, Blackboard, Email and humber.ca will not be accessible through on-campus services. However, central systems will be accessible through an individual’s own internet connection (such as home internet, 3G and LTE).

For schools/departments with a refrigerator/freezer in their area (or a common area or staff room), please remember to empty/throw out unused food as the power will be off across Campus.

The Centre for Trades and Technology (Carrier Drive) and the Transportation Training Centre (Woodbine Downs) will not be affected by the hydro service interruption.

Back in November 30, 2020, we shared with you that Sun Life had launched their new digital solution for life insurance beneficiary designations. The new digital solution allows employees to eDesignate their beneficiaries.

Recently, Sun Life has released the revised benefit enrolment forms that remove the previously available life insurance beneficiary designation section. The revised forms are to be completed and submitted by Humber employees, after completing their benefit’s enrolment or update process within the Human Resource Management System (HRMS). These forms can be accessed by navigating to the HRMS’s homepage.

• Life Insurance Beneficiary Appointment is designed through the Sun Life Plan Member Services online account at http://mysunlife.ca. Note - If you don’t have an existing Sun Life account, you will need to register for a new account before completing your Beneficiary Designation. Click here to learn how.

After consultation with key stakeholders within Humber about the utilization of our Full-time Program Calendar, a decision has been made to develop a staff resource to replace a 2022/2023 Full-time Calendar. This resource will contain all the key program information and will be used by the Recruitment team and others in Faculties and departments. 

The feedback provided to GRMC was that this publication was rarely used outside of the recruitment team, and it was found that most areas utilized the web program pages directly for up-to-date program details and information.

Many colleges have already moved away from the production of a printed Full-time Program Calendar and this supports the recommendation of the Humber publications audit conducted by Centre for Excellence in Public Sector Marketing a few years ago.

The annual content review process by Faculties and RO will continue to ensure that the website is accurate when 2022/2023 program information is released in September 2021. This same info will be used for the staff resource.

The intent is to print a very limited quantity and it will also be available as an AODA accessible pdf for electronic use. This will have a positive environmental impact and result in cost savings, allowing us to reallocate funds to additional advertising throughout the year (i.e. Fall Boost, January intake campaigns) and to advertise programs needing additional support.

We will continue to produce our Viewbook and will work closely with the Recruitment team to determine anticipated print quantities.
