A little over a year ago, when the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) went live, we introduced Guided Learning, an in-app learning solution that provides you with step-by-step process walkthrough instructions via pop-up messages. Guided Learning helps you and your team get up to speed faster and enables you to learn new process flows with ease.

Guided learning is an essential learning tool that is continuously improving and it works alongside our HRMS Knowledge Base (KB) to provide you with up-to-date & on-demand learning material on everything related to the HRMS.

Today we are happy to announce that a new version of Guided Learning will be released within the HRMS on Monday November 23, 2020. The new Guided Learning offers many enhancements over our current widget that will help improve your in-app learning experience.

Humber Libraries can assist faculty with acquiring and providing access to course content for the Winter 2021 semester.

  • Library staff can create a new (or update an existing) Course Resources page to support student learning. Course Resources pages can feature links to licensed library articles, videos and databases, as well as web content. These pages can be easily integrated into Blackboard course sites.
  • The Library’s digital scanning service allows faculty to provide students with access to excerpts of content from print items in the library collection. Please allow 2-4 weeks for the fulfillment of a scanning request.

Our next Sustainability Spotlight outlines how we all have a role to play!

Ryan Burton, Director of Digital Solutions, shares with us how he’s taking on sustainability-related initiatives on and off-campus. Visit our YouTube channel to watch the full interview or click here.

Ryan’s advice for anyone looking to get involved with sustainability-related initiatives is to "Ask yourself 'what can you do right now that would make a difference?' What could you do within your classroom, your office, your home? Every little bit helps - don't underestimate the power of one small change.”

"All it takes is one person to make a difference and sometimes that one person is you. There may be times when you can't get help but there should never be a time when you can't offer it," Ryan Burton.

Are you or someone you know working on a sustainability-related project at Humber, Guelph-Humber, home or in your community? Tell us about it and you could be featured in our Sustainability Spotlight Series! Email us at sustainability@humber.ca.

This past October, we asked Humber faculty and staff to support us in promoting the Humber Student Success Survey (HSSS).

The survey is vital to furthering Humber’s understanding of our students’ needs and to focusing our student success initiatives.

We know that while most students successfully complete the first year of their program, one in four leave the college. HSSS is one means of identifying students at risk of attrition and enables us to initiate timely interventions.

With your support, we achieved a 42% response rate to the survey between October 23 and November 6. This is a major success!

Thank you Humber faculty and staff for continuing to make a positive impact in our students' success and helping the college ensure that no student is left behind.

Hello Humber. As mentioned last week, throughout the rest of the Fall semester, we’re connecting with the Humber community about health and well-being and we want you to join in the fun.

We want to know how and what you, the members of the Humber Community, are doing to maintain your physical and mental health and wellness, and to inspire others to do the same.

From #SelfCareSundays, #WellnessWednesdays, mindful meditation, making healthy meals at home, hiking and taking in the sights of fabulous Fall foliage, or showing off your most impressive yoga poses, please show and share with us, too.

We know these are different and challenging times, and your health and wellness and that of the community is important. We will be sharing tips and activities with the Humber Community and we want to see and hear from you.

Please send your stories, anecdotes, photos, videos, tips, activities, recipes and more to publicrelations@humber.ca. And since you’re probably bragging about yourselves on social media anyway, tag @HumberCollege and #HealthyHumber so we can see how you do wellness. We’ll share a selection of posts on our social media channels and create a video featuring your submissions. Your tips could be someone’s inspiration and new activity. Now that’s #humbertogether.
