In order to make it easier to advise of any errors or changes required to program/course content on the website, we have created a ‘Report Error/Request Change’ functionality to the main page of humber.ca/hq.

On this page you can choose from a number of options depending on your specific question/issue. Once you select the option, your question will be forwarded directly to the person who is responsible for that information or section of content on the website.

This provides a simple solution to reporting errors occurring on program pages of the Humber website and will ensure that any issues are resolved as quickly as possible.

Any Humber staff, who has a Humber email sign-in, can access the HQ system through humber.ca/hq and report an error. However, we encourage you to first connect with one of the HQ point people from your area (see list below). This will help to keep the lines of communication open in your faculty/area.

Please note that those faculty/business unit staff who have been trained in the Request Change functionality can continue to use this process for “static” content edits.

We hope this will provide a simple solution to reporting errors occurring on program pages of the Humber website.

Please direct questions/comments to Debbie Krulicki of Government Relations, Marketing and Communications.

After 34 years at Humber, Joanne Settle, one of our most senior Accessibility Consultants at our Lakeshore Campus in the Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre has announced she will bid us farewell at the end of 2019 and ease into retirement.

Joanne began her journey at Humber in April 1986. She has spent her professional career in interestingly varied student-facing roles, as part of the network in student affairs, supporting our learners in the Humber Community.

Joanne has always conveyed her passion for working with diverse learners and has had an incredible impact in their lives, earning her the adoration and respect of her teammates and colleagues.

She has been a thoughtful contributor to shaping Accessible Learning Services and how we provide support and facilitate access to resources. Joanne has further used her voice and influence through her many accomplishments within and outside the team, particularly, in forging solid partnerships with allies and faculty across the college.

While it is a loss for our team, this announcement comes with excitement for what lies ahead for Joanne, which we all hope will be a wonderful new chapter in her life.

She has been a champion in the post-secondary landscape for accessibility and education and we will greatly miss her and her bright smile!

Please join us in celebrating Joanne by sending her an email with your well wishes.

Congratulations, Joanne!

Humber President Chris Whitaker and Peter F. Dundas

Peter F. Dundas, a graduate of Humber College’s Ambulance and Emergency Care program (1981), was awarded a 2019 Premier’s Award in the Health Sciences category.

The award was also presented to Conestoga graduate Kevin King, who was coincidentally hired by Dundas for his first job as a paramedic.

Peter F. Dundas is Chief of Peel Regional Paramedic Services in Ontario. For almost 40 years, he has forged a distinguished career from front-line paramedic to senior leader. He leads a team of 650 health professionals that serves 1.4 million people and responds to over 150,000 calls a year.

His leadership has resulted in new initiatives to improve patient outcomes, such as drone delivery of automatic defibrillators in rural communities and enhancing engagement with communities that lack access to primary health care.

“It’s an honour to be recognized for the work my team and I do to take care of people. It’s a privilege to serve and give back to my community,” said Dundas. “Humber College helped me to develop the professional and communications skills for my job that I’ve put into practice throughout my career. Now I have the opportunity to pass those skills along to new graduates and young paramedics who serve their community every day.”

Premier’s Awards celebrate the achievements of Ontario college graduates in the province and throughout the world. Humber graduates were nominated in seven categories: Business, Community Services, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, Recent Graduate, Technology and Apprenticeship. This is the second year in a row that a Humber graduate has been recognized in the Health Sciences category.

“We are proud of all of our alumni and how they are using their career-focused education to help and shape our communities,” said Chris Whitaker, president, Humber College. “Peter Dundas has inspired many young paramedics and touched the lives of thousands in their time of greatest need. The entire Humber community congratulates him on this award.”

This marks the 14th time a Humber grad has won this prestigious award. Recipients also receive a $5,000 bursary in their name to support current students at the college for a list of all Humber alumni nominated for the 2019 Premier’s Award visit here.
