As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion are offering an interactive training session on Humber's Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy. The date, time and registration link are below. Register now to secure your spot.

Humber Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy Training

In 2016, Humber College’s Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Committee spearheaded the revision of the Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy and Procedures for students. A separate set of procedures were developed strictly for employees. The Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy was mandated by the Ontario government. The requirements that were set out were quite prescriptive in nature for colleges and universities in how to prevent and respond to all forms of sexual violence. After extensive consultation with stakeholders throughout Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber, the policy and procedures were approved by the Board of Governors in early December 2016.

The current Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence policy is under review.

The Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and the University of Guelph-Humber are committed to the elimination of sexual assault and sexual violence to all members of the diverse Humber community. In particular, Humber is committed to supporting those affected by sexual assault and sexual violence.

To prepare for the session we encourage folks to read:

  1. Humber Sexual Assault, Sexual Violence Policy – accessed at Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy

Please come prepared to participate – the journey to allyship and beyond is your own, it cannot be taken for you. This requires inner reflection, deep inner work and engagement. Folks from non-dominant identities (Black, Indigenous, Racialized people, LGBT2SQ people, People living with Disabilities, Women) also have important work to do addressing internal bias and prejudice – please also come ready to engage. The workshops are interactive to provide an opportunity to participate.

Register now to secure your spot in this session.

Join Arboretum staff online for a chat about field guides and other nature topics.

The Nature Exchange is a casual virtual conversation about all things nature. Drop in to hear members of the Arboretum's Nature Interpretation team share stories and answer your questions about the wild plants and animals of the GTA. You are welcome to join the conversation or just listen in.

The theme for this Nature Exchange is Demystifying Field Guides. Field guides are fantastic tools which can help you identify plants and animals in your area. But they can also be big, thick books full of confusing terms and unfamiliar things like "identification keys". Whether you already use field guides regularly or have never seen one, join us for a casual conversation about how we use them, and some of our staff's favourites.
