Facilitator Bios:

Bradley Schurman is an expert on demographic change and how it disrupts worldwide social, cultural, political, and economic norms. His deep understanding of population shifts, coupled with his grasp of emerging trends, makes him an authoritative voice in the future of us. He's the author of THE SUPER AGE: DECODING OUR DEMOGRAPHIC DESTINY (Harper Collins) and the founder and CEO of the demographic strategy firm, The Super Age, which helps public and private-sector organizations navigate disruptive population change and improve organizational resilience. He's written for Newsweek and been quoted by The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and USAToday. He's appeared on NBC News and CBS News and regularly appears as a guest on podcasts, radio, and television shows around the world. Schurman spent his first two decades working for LeadingAge, a community of nonprofit aging services providers and other mission-driven organizations serving older adults, where he worked on assisted living and continuing care public policy, and AARP, America's leading organization for people aged fifty and older, where he led thought leadership in Asia and Europe and with entities like the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the World Economic Forum. He holds undergraduate and master's degrees from The American University in Washington, D.C.

Megan W. Gerhardt, Ph.D. is a Professor of Management and Leadership at the Farmer School of Business at Miami University, where she also serves as Robert D. Johnson Director of Leadership Development. Megan speaks and consults with top organizations around the world on ways to leverage generational diversity in the workplace. In addition to her academic research, she is author of the book Gentelligence: A Revolutionary Approach to Leading an Intergenerational Workforce. Her Gentelligence work has been showcased as Harvard Business Review’s Big Idea in March 2022 and was also chosen as one of Harvard Business Review’s Top 10 Must Reads for 2024. Megan’s work on leveraging generational diversity has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, NBC News, The Washington Post, and CNN, among others. Sip & Chill Cafe is back at North Campus!

Thank you to everyone who shared our first Sip & Chill Cafe with their students. We had a great turnout and are excited for our second one coming up on February 7.

Join the Office of the Dean of Students and First Year Experience (FYE) North for a bi-weekly gathering where students can come for an hour between or after class and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and light snacks while mixing and mingling with their peers. It's a perfect opportunity to unwind, connect, and just get a break from the academic stress.

While honeybees are struggling in rural environments, they've been thriving in urban ones. If you've been thinking of taking up urban beekeeping, this introduction to the challenges and opportunities of keeping bees in the city is for you.

Topics covered include, honeybee anatomy and behaviour, personal philosophy behind the course, site selection, necessary equipment, laws and registration, and the beekeeping year. You'll be learning from the beekeepers who care for both the Humber Arboretum and Humber College hives.

Location: Online via Zoom (online presentations include live chat and Q&A)

When: February 5, 6 and 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:10 p.m.

(Not available in the evenings? There is also a weekend option on February 17 and 18)
