On Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the University of Guelph-Humber will host a free, interactive, all ages science festival as part of the Science Rendezvous, taking place across Canada that same day.

Student volunteers will lead activities based in anatomy, neuroscience, health & fitness, memory, and forensic science, and much more! Attendees of all ages (0 to 99+ are welcome!), will have the chance to look at models of muscles, fat, the brain, heart and lungs, assess fitness levels through interactive exercises, learn more about facial recognition and optical illusions, and even explore a crime scene!

Kick off the city-wide Toronto Bird Celebration with a morning bird walk at the Humber Arboretum where we'll try to identify as many species as we can! All ages and skill levels are welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them; if not, we will have pairs available to borrow.

This event is part of the Humber Arboretum's events for Ravine Days and the Toronto Bird Celebration.

After the walk you can enjoy live acoustic music in the Arb (weather-permitting) while you wait for the start of The Birds and the Bees Gardening Workshop at 10:30 a.m.)

The guided walk is free but registration is required as space is limited. Please sign up on the Arboretum website to reserve your spot:

Putting Toronto's Ravine Strategy into Action: Humber's Sustainable Pond Project

The new Sustainable Pond Project at Humber College is an exciting restoration project which will help protect the health of the Humber River while providing improved wildlife habitat and gathering spaces for the community. During Toronto's Ravine Days celebration, come to the Centre for Urban Ecology and hear Humber Arboretum Director Alexandra Link and staff from Toronto and Region Conservation Authority explain the vision and the benefits of the project and how it helps support the city's new Ravine Strategy.

Lunch and Learns at the Humber Arboretum’s Centre for Urban Ecology offer free introductions to topics related to gardening, ecology, and sustainability. Bring your lunch and enjoy a casual learning environment overlooking the Arboretum grounds.
