Humber College will become the first public college or polytechnic in Canada to formally adopt the Okanagan Charter.

By adopting the Charter, Humber is committed to embedding health and wellness in all aspects of its campus culture. This commitment to student and staff physical, mental and social well-being is a key way in which Humber is creating a healthy and inclusive community, a pillar of the college’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan

By adopting the Charter, Humber is solidifying our commitment to the following:

  • We will infuse health and sustainability into the decisions we make, expanding our focus on the success and well-being of our students, employees, community and environment
  • We will continue to cultivate a rich and diverse learning and work environment as we recognize that diversity is our strength
  • We will continue to respect the primary importance of Indigenous cultural foundations and the principles of mutual respect, inclusion and community engagement.

This Father's Day, celebrate Dad with a unique Father's Day gift. Brewing Small Batch Beers is a two-session course starts from raw ingredients all the way to packaged beer. Students will be provided with a Brooklyn Brewshop kit with a choice of three different beer styles (Afternoon Wheat or Everyday IPA or Oatmeal Stout). The brew day will go through the process of mashing, lautering, boiling, cooling, sanitation and yeast pitching. The wort is left to ferment for two weeks as the yeast transforms the wort into beer. When the beer is fully fermented students will return for session two to package the beer into bottles to take home and enjoy!
