The students of Fitness and Health Promotion at Humber invite you to their second annual yoga event, The Yoga Revolution.

This year, our event promises to be even more extraordinary as we have partnered with the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP). Together, we aim to provide an immersive experience for all participants and promote the importance of physical and mental well-being.

Proceeds from this event will go Black CAP.

The event will feature a variety of yoga practices led by local instructors from the Humber community. This event is open to all skill levels.

Jeremy Staples has been a post-secondary educational leader for almost 30 years. His work focused on developing opportunities that created exceptional student learning experiences, prioritizing the development of the students’ critical, creative and reflective thinking capacity to prepare them for the workplace demands of the 21st Century.  An advocate of the importance of a growth mindset and learning, Jeremy has collaborated with a variety of teams to create innovative programs that develop self-awareness and an understanding of others as drivers of change. In 2017, Jeremy started a consultancy focused on developing the capacity of individuals and teams to navigate the new world of work through adopting a growth mindset, leaning into the discomfort associated with creativity, and building cohesive teams to build healthy organizational cultures.

Register your kids by July 24 for Fantastic Freshwater week at the Humber Arboretum.

Humber Arboretum day camps are based out of the Centre for Urban Ecology, but campers spend most of their time outdoors where they make their own discoveries in the forest, river, meadows, wetlands, gardens, and ponds of the Humber Arboretum. 

Every week at Humber Arboretum Nature Camp includes nature walks, pond discovery, art and ecology, camp songs and games, and indoor swimming on Fridays. The weekly theme inspires other activities:

Fantastic Freshwater - Monday, July 31 to Friday, August 4, 2023

This week campers will have a chance to discover the life that exists within the ponds, river and wetlands of the Humber Arboretum! They will learn about the importance of freshwater for our own survival and why the Humber River watershed is so important to the Toronto region’s biodiversity.

Special Guests: Learn about Ontario's native turtle species with the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre.

Is your home energy efficient? 

In partnership with Enbridge Gas and Ontario municipalities, our FAST Continuous Professional Learning department is hosting Home Efficiency Retrofit Orientation (HERO) – a FREE virtual seminar for homeowners to learn how to make their home more energy efficient and reduce energy costs. 

Date: Thursday, July 27, 2023 
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST 

The HERO program helps homeowners incorporate best practice energy-efficiency upgrades in home renovations that improve comfort, resilience, peace of mind, GHG reductions, and lower energy costs. The session will provide insights on eligible rebate programs and topics including: heating/cooling systems, insulation, windows, hot water heating and reducing air leakage.

From wildlife to wildflowers there’s wealth of nature to be found right here in Toronto. This week campers will take a close look at the places, plants, and animals in the city, and develop a new appreciation for the nature all around them.

Ginger Grant, PhD, is the Dean of Research & Innovation at Humber College in Toronto, Canada and member of the Council on Innovation and Commercialization with the Conference Board of Canada. An Innovation Researcher, academic entrepreneur and activist, Ginger’s passion is Innovation Management - the design, development and implementation of innovation strategies that transform corporate culture, and drive engagement and high-performance teams for competitive advantage. A frequent international speaker, she has held senior leadership positions and consulted in a variety of fields including engineering, telecommunications, education, transportation, government, law, software development, gaming and the creative industries. Ginger also holds a Black Belt 2nd Dan from Innovation 360, a global consultancy which helps organizations become innovation ready through a data-driven methodology and a suite of tools for innovation management. Achieving the 2nd Dan Master Black Belt certification offers exclusive benefits, unlocking access to Sherlock, the foremost AI engine for innovation management analytics and the ability to train others on the Innovation 360 methodology. Prior to COVID-19, Ginger was a visiting professor at the Copenhagen Business School where she taught Innovation Management.
