CTL: Engaging Learners

Deep learning occurs when students are engaged with the content and feel connected to their peers and instructors. In this workshop, participants will learn and apply active learning strategies to keep students motivated and engaged throughout the learning process.

Humber’s AODA Customer Service Standards Training Has Been Revised

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) underwent recent changes as of July 1, 2016. As a result, Humber was required to update its training on the Customer Service Standards. The Centre is happy to report that the modules for faculty, administrative and support staff have all been updated and are now available to you for completion.

Please note: All employees who have completed the Customer Service Standards online training before January, 2016 are required to complete the revised Customer Service Standards module that can be accessed at:

Notice of Hydro Service Interruption - North Campus

When: Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Where: B Building and Central Plant (backup power will be available) Purpose: To replace electrical infrastructure When: Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Where: C, D and G Buildings (backup power will be available) Purpose: To replace electrical infrastructure Staff, faculty and students will not be allowed entry to the areas mentioned above during the hydro shutdown. Testing Services - Closed Wednesday Dec 21 (Afternoon)

After a very busy final exam period, the Test Centre at all locations will close for the afternoon of Wednesday, December 21st for a staff event. Please ensure that you communicate to your students, should you anticipate a test being written on the 21st, or come in the morning to do any pickups. We will reopen for Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at both Lakeshore and North. Thank you for your support over this exam period! Testing Services

Turn Off Before You Take Off

A friendly reminder from the Office of Sustainability to remember to power down your computers and monitors, turn off all lights, close window shades and unplug any holiday lights before you leave for the holidays! Book Now for January's Nature Camp for Kids

Time is running out to register your kids for Humber Arboretum's Winter Nature Camp, coming up during the first week of January! Kids aged 5-12 can be registered for all four days (Tuesday January 3rd - Friday January 6th) or for individual days. Campers will enjoy:
  • nature walks and forest exploration 
  • animal tracking and orienteering
  • bird watching, including owl prowls and chickadee feeding
  • shelter building
  • arts and crafts 
  • introductions to citizen science projects
