Scholarly Writing Boot Camp - Call for Applications

The CTL is excited to announce a call for applications for the next Scholarly Writing Boot Camp, taking place on February 22-24, 2017. The Boot Camp is a chance to make a commitment to get a piece of scholarly writing done, by dedicating a consolidated period of time to writing in a quiet group retreat context. Food and accommodations will be provided for the duration of the retreat. Spaces are limited! See the attached pdf file for more information and for the application.

Free Soil Health Workshop at the Humber Arboretum

Is a healthier garden part of your plans for 2017?  Join the Etobicoke Master Gardeners (EMG) at the Humber Arboretum for a helpful workshop on Soil Health – The Natural Approach. You’ll learn what soil is made of, what good soil provides to plants, and how to test for basic soil types. We'll look at the benefits and basics of composting, along with providing an introduction to mycorrhizae - what it is, its benefits, and how we use it. You'll learn how to feed your soil, so your soil will feed your plants!

Humber Research Series: Doing it Right - Research Ethics

Whenever you involve human participants in your research project, you need approval for your activities from the Humber Research Ethics Board. In this workshop, we will demystify the REB application process and answer your questions about conducting ethical research. This is the seventh event in the Humber Research Series. Sessions are offered at the North and Lake campuses. Faculty are welcome to attend a single session, or the entire series. To Register for:

CTL and International: Mix & Mingle

This event is coordinated by the Centre for Teaching & Learning and the International Centre. It is an important part of the Connect-International Student Program, which provides a support team for new international students by creating an opportunity for students to connect with a faculty, staff or admin mentor and a peer mentor.

At this informal mix and mingle event, international students will be put in small groups to connect with a particular faculty, staff, or admin mentor.

Opening Reception for Nibi Bimadiziwin - Water is Life Exhibition

The Aboriginal Resource Centre at Humber College is hosting a Gallery opening for Nibi Bimadiziwin: Water is Life. This exhibit was created to raise awareness about the importance of water and how we can work to protect and preserve it — both on campus and at home. The exhibit invites us to think about our responsibilities to water, and how our actions contribute not only to the wellness of our waterways but ultimately, the rest of the living world.

New Service Delivery Model - Human Resources Compensation, Benefits & Pension Team

In keeping with the Human Resources Department value of continuous improvement and customer service, the Compensation, Benefits & Pension Team is introducing a new service delivery model for employees effective January 3, 2017.

What is changing?

We currently have one HR subject matter expert for each area (pension, compensation and benefits) and you meet with each expert separately to discuss your issue.
