North Campus Construction and Parking Update – Winter, 2017

Humber has been fortunate to see consistent student enrolment growth and a corresponding institutional commitment to student success. As a result, we are investing in new facilities and spaces for our learners, along with accompanying supports for employees.

In January 2017, construction will begin on two major North Campus projects: the creation of the new Centre for Technology and Innovation (CTI), and a new 1000-space parking garage.

Power Down Before the Break

Reminder: Power Down Your Electronics for the Break

Before you leave for the holiday break, please consider taking a moment to power down all electronic equipment in your area. Powering equipment down will reduce the risk of damage should Humber experience a power-related event over the break.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning Welcomes Kamini Steinberg

We are very pleased to announce the secondment of Kamini Steinberg to the Centre for Teaching and Learning. In her new role, Kamini will support faculty and program coordinators in their understanding and application of inclusive curricular design in both face-to-face and virtual classroom environments. She will also assist with the interpretation of legislation and policies that support student accessibility.

CTL: PC Community of Practice

The PC Community of Practice events are designed to enhance communication, networking and sharing within our group of Program Coordinators. Each event will provide a forum for PCs to discuss current issues, share ideas and best practices, and generally share the incredibly rich and diverse body of knowledge within our community. Our winter 2017 meetings are an excellent opportunity for all PCs to meet Carol Appleby, our new Director of Professional Learning, Centre for Teaching and Learning.

Introduction of the Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC)

Humber has been integrating "Sustainability into Everything we do" for many years now.  We have been named one of Canada's Greenest Employers 2016, a Smart Commute Gold Workplace two years in a row (2015 & 2016), and just recently earned a second Silver level rating from the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) put on by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

CTL: Teaching in the Hives-Tech Basics

Are you teaching in one of the HIVES classrooms (3rd and 4th floor F building, North) this year? Are you curious about Humber’s new interactive spaces? Come and explore the features of these rooms and practice using the technology (interactive touchscreen, control panel for wall screens, etc.). We hope that you leave feeling inspired and confident to teach in these classrooms.

Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be assigned to a HIVES classroom to attend.
