Community Outreach & Workforce Development (COWD)

Mission: COWD supports people in our communities that may not traditionally access education and employment. We do this by collaborating with Humber Schools and departments in partnerships with community agencies and government to offer a broad range of programs and services to assist youth, Aboriginal Peoples, immigrants to Canada, unemployed and underemployed individuals, to enter postsecondary education, apprenticeships and meaningful work opportunities.

Our Goals

  • Equitable access:
Increase opportunities to engage under-represented groups and create pathways for further education, training and/or employment leading to fulfilling careers
  • Initiate innovative partnerships:
Increase the college’s capacity to create partnerships through innovative and tailored projects and programs, in conjunction with local community agencies.

  • Engage employers and develop partnerships to meet the needs of business and industry:
Be a leader in addressing the labour force needs of employers by matching the right job seeker with the right job. This is supported through placements and the creation of tailored training plans which in turn meets the unique needs of both employer and job seeker.

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to advance the quality of programs and services:
Contribute to public dialogue on workforce development, education, training, and share best practices with key stakeholders.
