Humber International

Study Permits

A valid Study Permit is required for anyone studying in Canada for longer than six months. Since most Humber programs are one year in length or more, this becomes a mandatory requirement for most international students. Your Study Permit should be valid for the entire duration of your program.

Working While Studying

As an international student, if authorized, you are allowed to work while you are studying. Before you start to work in Canada, you must obtain a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Co-op Permits

Some programs require a mandatory paid/unpaid internship or work placement as part of the academic curriculum. International students in these programs must apply for a co-op work permit as well as a study permit.

Visas

Outside of Canada, visas can be acquired through your Canadian consulate, Embassy or High Commission.

Humber Graduates are Eligible to Apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit

International students graduating from Humber are eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The length of the work permit may be issued based on the length of your program or up to 3 years. The PGWP is an open work permit allowing you to work for any employer in Canada. Your work experiences in Canada may make you eligible for immigration programs like Express Entry if you meet the eligibility requirements.
