“Rob is the epitome of a leader. He has surrounded himself with extremely qualified staff, and supports their training and advancement all while allowing them to do their jobs.”
Kathy Branton, Manager, Emergency Management and Business Continuity
Rob contributes to the profession not for his own benefit but because of his passion for the profession and his sincere desire to make all postsecondary institutions safe for their community members.
Rob has the respect and admiration of his staff and colleagues as a consummate professional in the security, public safety and emergency management field. He contributes to the profession not for his own benefit but because of his passion for the profession and his sincere desire to make all postsecondary institutions safe for their community members. Rob is the epitome of a leader. He has surrounded himself with extremely qualified staff, and supports their training and advancement all while allowing them to do their jobs. He does so without micromanaging but knows when to step in and does so without belittling his staff. He is quick to acknowledge that his accomplishments are his staffs’ accomplishments and due in part to his staff. Rob was quick and proud to share with the Humber community of the recent award that members of Public Safety received for saving the life of a community member. Rob is very proud of the entire Department of Public Safety and is happy to give credit to his staff for a job very well done.
Even in the midst of the current pandemic, Rob is always thinking of his staff. Rob attends an international security conference each year. This year, the conference will be virtual but they have opened up training and seminars to all members of an institution. Rob was very quick to share this information with his staff members, highlighting that some of the training will help enhance CMM designations or count towards recertification for PSP designations, demonstrating once again that Rob is always supporting his staff in improving and enhancing their credentials and career paths.
The passion, drive and commitment he demonstrates daily to public safety in the postsecondary sector is enviable. Rob knows very well that public safety is not front of mind for most people, but it is front of mind for him. He lives this daily as he works and strives to make Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber the safest campus in the province.
