Andrew Ness, Humber International

The entire enterprise shone a light on Humber as a national model for internationalization. Our guests repeatedly commented on how well the conference was organized, how respectfully they felt we’d treated them, and how meaningful the conference content was.

The CBIE Regional Meeting Volunteer Organizing Committee produced the most successful Canadian Bureau for International Education regional meeting that has ever been held in Canada. CBIE is Canada’s largest and most influential international education organization. This meeting shone a light on Humber as a national model for internationalization and allowed Humber faculty, staff, and students to grow in their understanding and knowledge of international education on campus.

The two-day event welcomed 286 participants from 14 colleges, 15 universities, Federal government departments, recruitment agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and corporate partners. This represents over twice the number of participants than had ever been registered at a regional meeting. This event brought tremendous focus on Humber’s internationalization work and provided an opportunity for Humber faculty, staff, and students to network with colleagues from across the province.

Continuous Professional Learning Central Support - Destiny One Team

Lily Liu, Lisa Tubia, Melissa Churly

“As of August 2021, 24,252 learners have enrolled in CPL Courses representing over 11,417 individuals. 605 unique courses have been mounted using D1 with 199 Subject Matter Experts teaching them. Since it's inception, over 85% of CPL participants have stated that our new course registration process was "clear and easy." This number is a direct testiment to the work, passion and commitment of CPL's D1 Operations Team.”

Frank Cappadocia, Office of the Dean, CPL

The implementation of Destiny One included over 150 reports and 40 dashboards in real-time, along with the ability to create customized reports. This has enabled end-users to independently filter, sort and run their own reports and use dashboards for trending and analysis.

The previous Continuing Education (CE) business model at Humber was very decentralized and each Faculty had unique characteristics and situations. It was recognized for years that consistency was needed and would be part of any new systems implementation. This meant that business process rethinking was required before any systems configuration. As part of this business process work, over 70 issues were identified that could impact flexible registration strategy, policy, operations or Destiny One implementation.

Over 162 processes, 40 process maps, and 293 validations occurred during this project. All this work was used to gather requirements for the supporting technology Destiny One. The future state business process maps were signed by all business stakeholders and used for system configuration. As of August 2021, 24,252 learners have enrolled in CPL Courses representing over 11,417 individuals. Since its inception, over 85% of CPL participants have stated that our new course registration process was "clear and easy." This number is a direct testament to the work, passion, and commitment of the Continuous Professional Learning Central Support - Destiny One Team.
