Last month, we were sad to see our 2023 Fellowships come to an end but excited to share with you all of the amazing work that the students came up with over the course of 14 weeks. In our October newsletter, we're happy to share that the fellowships are the gifts that keep on giving with an update from the Graphic Medicine fellowship, the official release of ICMF music on streaming platforms, a workshop from Culture's Compass, and finally an exciting announcement from the Nuit Blanche fellowship!

It is my pleasure to welcome Erin Gray, as the Interim Associate Dean, Program Delivery, Education and Training Solutions (ETS). Erin will be responsible for the Real Estate Education Programs as well as leading other ETS Continuous Professional Learning initiatives.
Erin Gray comes to Education and Training Solutions as a strong post-secondary educator and administrator. With nearly two decades of dedicated service to Humber College, Erin has consistently demonstrated a passion for teaching and learning, quality assurance and a commitment to advancing the institution's goals.
Erin's journey at Humber began in the early 2000’s as faculty member and program coordinator in the Paramedic Programs. Erin later transitioned into a broader institutional role as a program development consultant within the Program Planning, Development, and Renewal Department where she played a pivotal role in numerous college-wide projects aimed at enhancing the learner, faculty, and staff experience. Erin's expertise extends to aligning internal quality assurance and enhancement priorities with external bodies and committees, such as PEQAB, OCQAS, and accrediting bodies, ensuring that Humber's programs meet the highest standards. Over the years, she excelled in various project roles and secondments, including leadership, mentorship, program development, program quality enhancement and accreditation. Her dedication to supporting and delivering high-quality education and her ability to lead and mentor peers, faculty, and students have been instrumental in shaping the success of many processes and programs at Humber.
Erin's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University, further solidifying her expertise in pedagogical practices. Her continuous pursuit of professional development, including completion of leadership training, underscores her commitment to quality in leadership in higher education.
Please join me in welcoming Erin, October 2 was her first day with ETS.

As one of the newer Centres of Innovation, the Centre for Innovation in Health & Wellness (CIHW) started its journey last year in February 2022, around the same time when the world was opening up post-pandemic. Emerging out of the engagement process with Humber campus partners and external community partners, was a road map for CIHW aligned with Humber's strategic priorities on an inclusive healthy campus and Humber's commitment for stronger and innovative community partnerships.
In less than 18 months since it started, CIHW has experienced significant success, largely because of the incredible support from everyone at Humber which made this possible. I am excited about the different opportunities coming our way at CIHW and look forward to engaging, connecting and collaborating with many more students, staff, and faculty. Should you have an innovative idea in health and wellness and want to collaborate with us, please feel free to connect with us at cihw@humber.ca.

Beyond post-secondary, persons with disabilities encounter significant barriers to participating in the labour market.
- “An estimated 1.9 million persons with disabilities aged 15 to 64 are not in school or employed.” (1)
- Of the 1.9 million, 852,000 have the potential to work. (1)
- Workplace bias, discrimination and non-inclusive environments perpetuate the low rate of employment among persons with disabilities. (1)
- “In 2022, the employment rate among those aged 16 to 64 with disabilities (65.1%) was 15 percentage points lower than the rate for those without disabilities (80.1%).” (2)
By facilitating inclusive learning environments and providing learners with disabilities an equitable opportunity for success as well as access campus services, Colleges can have a positive impact on the transition to employment for persons with a disability.
Humber has specific information for students with disabilities through the Career Services website.
Please watch for our posts highlighting Humber and UGH graduates with disabilities throughout October in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness month.

The Student Fees & Financial Resources hub was recently refreshed and everyone is encouraged to check it out at our Admissions webpage, or on the Financial Resources website or Humber's Financial Aid webpage.*
Recognizing that financial considerations are always top of mind and a considerable source of anxiety and stress, this refresh aims to provide a wealth of supportive information in an engaging and uncomplicated way.
Featuring an anchored menu to easily navigate available topics, the hub has been designed as a central location for links to more detailed fees and financial aid information as well as the various financial resources available at Humber. From the work-study program to the many ways to save on- and off-campus to the financial literacy workshops offered throughout the academic year, students will be able to use this page as an entry point to information that can help them feel more in control of their finances with the full support of their Humber community.
Coming soon, a section will be added with 'Tips from your Humber Community' sharing financial resources content from Humber's social media accounts tagged with #MyHealthyHumber #SavingTips.
Be well and enjoy exploring the "new" financial resources hub!
