All week long, Occupational Health and Safety Services posted health and safety-related information to celebrate Safety and Health Week. As promised, today's announcement offers the opportunity to win some prizes. Click on the link below to complete a quiz regarding the Safety and Health Week topics that were published in the Communiqué this week. Fill in your name and email, answer the 10 questions, and you will have the opportunity to win one of three $15 Humber food gift cards, which can be used for any food service outlet at both the North and Lakeshore campuses. Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber are committed to the principles of human rights, equity and inclusion. Passover is a major Jewish holiday which starts at sundown on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 and ends at nightfall April 13, 2023. It commemorates the Biblical story of escape from slavery in ancient Egypt.
Many Humber students, faculty and staff will be celebrating Passover which is typically celebrated by a meal on the first night of Passover called Seder where families gather and foods of symbolic significance are eaten. Specific food abstentions may be followed for the rest of the week.
Please be mindful that students, faculty and staff may require accommodations, such as time off or extensions, to celebrate. If you have questions regarding the duty to accommodate based on creed, please contact the Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion at humanrights@humber.ca.

The Humber Room is a live learning lab for our students and a culinary and service experience for guests. Our menu selection and service style change every week based on our curriculum. Check out the Centre for Creative Business Innovation (CCBI) and Humber Galleries' latest news in this month's newsletter.
The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences is excited to host this year’s League for Innovation in the Community College International Student Literary Competition on behalf of Humber. This year’s theme "Believe, Belong & Be Here" invites our students to find, explore, and create spaces of belonging through original works of writing in one of four categories: fictional short story, poetry, personal essay, and one-act play.
We would like to ask that you promote this competition with your students, and we have attached a flyer with QR codes to more information about the competition and to the entry form. Humber has many talented student writers across all our credential levels, and this is a wonderful opportunity for them to have an audience for their writing and a chance to be published in the League’s Student Literary Awards anthology should they make it to the international level.
One winner in each of the four categories will be selected to represent Humber at the international competition. Each of the four Humber winners will receive a $100 Amazon gift card and will have the opportunity to win a cash prize at the international competition level.
Entries must be original works written during enrollment in for-credit courses at Humber. While the students need to be enrolled in for-credit courses, the work they submit does not have to be a piece they submitted for a course, though it can be. The submission deadline for the Humber-level competition is April 10, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. To access the entry form, students must log-in using their Humber credentials.
