Please note there will be filming activity in the atrium of the Lakeshore Student Welcome and Resource Centre on Saturday, February 10.

The SSCS Simulation Lab will be filming a scenario from approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be accompanied by a security guard. Please be advised there may be some increased noise.

On May 23rd and 24th, Humber will welcome partner institutions from around the world to participate in a Global Forum on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Leveraging our collective expertise in entrepreneurship, innovation and applied learning, the two-day forum will begin with a keynote address from Sheldon Levy who will talk about the role that postsecondary institutions must play in preparing graduates for the 21st century. Breakout sessions and networking opportunities will bring together our global partners with the aim of showcasing approaches to entrepreneurship education and innovation.

The forum will provide an opportunity for Humber faculty and staff to showcase their initiatives and research engage with our institutional partners to explore opportunities for collaborations on applied research and joint projects and programs. 

The call for proposals is now open and accessible through humber.ca/global/forum2018/call-for-proposals.html.  

We encourage you to circulate the one page call for proposals and link to faculty and staff who have demonstrated interest and expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation in applied learning.

Registration for the forum will be limited. Each academic school and division at Humber will receive a specific number of spots to encourage a global forum with meaningful dialogue leading to opportunities for future collaborations.

Here are some tips of what you can do:

  • Get the flu shot
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers
  • Cough or sneeze in a tissue or your sleeve
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Clean surfaces and shared items
  • Stay at home if you are sick

Join us in this practical one-hour session, as we work to improve your comfort by learning about the proper way to set up an office workstation. Topics covered will include:

  • Proper working height
  • Chair set-up
  • Keyboard/mouse set-up
  • Monitor set-up
  • Accessories (i.e. headset, document stand)

Mini-assessments: session attendees will have an opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one assessment of their office workstation, between 10:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In each 20 minute time slot, an ergonomist will discuss your concerns, ensure your existing equipment is set up correctly and recommend measures that ensure your workstation is fit to you.

Please note that the mini assessments are only offered if you attend the one hour of training and only on the training date you attend.

Jennifer Chatsick, Faculty in the Community Integration through Cooperative Education program, is conducting a research study titled, Exploring Faculty Perspectives on Disability Related Curricula in Various Disciplines. This study is being conducted as part of the MSW Program at York University, in which Jennifer is a student. The study will explore Faculty perspectives on disability-related curriculum across various programs at Humber College. 

If you regularly teach courses with a component of disability-related curriculum and would be interested in participating in the study, please contact Jennifer at jennifer.chatsick@humber.ca or at 416.675.6622 x5855. Participation will involve one interview which is estimated to be 45 to 60 minutes in length. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Counselling Services is excited to announce the return of the Healthy Minds for Stressful Times group. This group will provide students with:

  • Tools & strategies to cope with stress, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed
  • Emotional support

Details:

  • Where: North Campus, LRC 3rd floor, room 3058 (seminar room)
  • When: Every Wednesday, 1:30-3 p.m., beginning February 7th until April 4th
  • For: Students who are feeling overwhelmed and/or experiencing stress and anxiety.

Please promote to your students:  

  • Print and post the attached poster
  • Post about Healthy Minds for Stressful Times on Blackboard
  • Make an announcement about Healthy Minds for Stressful Times at the beginning of class

Students are not required to sign up in advance; students can attend as many sessions as they like.
