BMO Details Online (DOL) only allowed for a single approver, which in most cases was the card holders direct report. In Chrome River, multiple approvers are notified when an expense report is submitted for approval. Chrome River is leveraging Banner approval queues, thus approvers are based on the ORG(s) expensed and NOT the card holder’s direct report. Similar to the Banner requisition approval process, only one of the notified approvers must approve the expense report in Chrome River. Once approved the report is automatically removed from the other approvers’ queue.

Since we are leveraging Banner requisition approval queues, deleting an approver from an ORG queue for Chrome River purposes will also remove the approver’s ability to approve Banner requisitions. Therefore, if you receive notification to approve an expense report for a card holder that is outside of your PCard responsibility, then disregard that expense report.

Unlike Banner, in Chrome River if you are an approver your expense report is routed to your direct report.

This diagram illustrates the approval routing process in DOL and Chrome River based on your role.

Faculty are able to access most student accommodation letters online using the Faculty Web Portal.*

  • Faculty can view accommodation letters in two ways, by course or by student name.
  • Faculty can access student accommodation letters online from any place, at any time through the portal.
  • Faculty are notified as new students connect with ALS throughout the semester.
  • The portal displays the most recent version of the accommodation letter.

*Please note that students continue to have the option of self-managing the distribution of their accommodation letters. For this relatively small portion of students, faculty will continue to receive accommodation letters directly from students either electronically or in hardcopy. We ask that faculty continue to store these letters securely.

When an accommodation letter has been generated and is available in the portal for review, faculty will receive an email with a link to the portal. The portal safely contains and displays the necessary accommodation information. Detailed instructions about how to use the faculty web portal are available online through ALS’ website humber.ca/student-life/swac/accessible-learning-services/faculty-resources/faculty-web-portal-student-accommodation-letters.

Please contact ALS at accessible-learning@humber.ca if you have further questions.

Dear colleagues,

Please see the research study notice below for information pertaining to a research study being conducted throughout the winter semester at the University of Guelph-Humber. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in providing this information to interested students and members of faculty/staff of Humber College.

Research study notice: Seeking South Asian (i.e., Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi) participants native to Canada or enrolled as an international student to explore a possible route to better understanding how we recognize and learn faces from one's own ethnicity background and other ethnicity backgrounds (known as the other-race effect). For around one hour of your time, you will earn a $20 gift card!

The study involves matching photographs of different people together by viewing multiple photographs of a faces. This involves trying to find a different photograph of the correct person in a selection of 30 different people. With important applied implications for verification of identity, this is a fun learning experience with compensation for participants.

More details about the study will be emailed to interested students and members of faculty/staff who self-identify as South Asian (i.e., Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi) - these details are provided in an information letter, which will be attached to the email. Each interested student/staff/faculty is advised to read over the letter before proceeding to view a linked schedule, which shows when the study is being run. Please note that this study is taking place at the University of Guelph-Humber on Humber College's North Campus.

If you wish to find out more information about the study - with no obligation to participate if you do not wish after reading the information letter - then please contact Ms. Rachel Simec or Ms. Ankita Arora at OREProjectUGH@gmail.com.

If you have any questions or concerns about the study, please contact Dr. Adam Sandford who is leading this research project: adam.sandford@guelphhumber.ca, 416.798.1331 x6088.

Did you know 'Faculty/Student Relationship' is outlined in Humber's Human Rights Policy?

Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning and the University of Guelph-Humber has the right, as well as the legal and moral responsibility, to ensure that all its members are treated fairly, equitably, and respectfully, in order to provide a learning, living and working environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Section 3 of Humber’s Human Rights Policy addresses Faculty-Student Relationships:
  • The integrity of the faculty-student relationship is a key foundation of Humber College’s educational mission. This relationship confers significant trust in the faculty member, who, in turn, assumes authority and accountability as an educator, evaluator, coach and mentor. The unequal institutional power intrinsic to this relationship increases the vulnerability of the student, i.e. any individual under the academic supervision of faculty, and the potential for coercion. The pedagogical relationship between faculty member and student must be protected from influences or activities that can interfere with learning consistent with the goals and ideals of the College. All such relationship jeopardizes the integrity of the educational process. Whenever a faculty member is responsible for academic supervision of a student, a personal relationship between them of a romantic or sexual nature, even if consensual, is inappropriate.
  • Any sexual or romantic relations between a teacher and a student during the period of the teacher/student relationship are prohibited. The prohibition extends to sexual relations between a student and all others who have supervisory academic responsibility for that student.
All Humber employees are required to complete the Sexual Violence Training for Employees available on Blackboard. If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the training please contact jodie.glean@humber.ca.
