Julie Pellegrini

It is with great sadness that the HR family announces the peaceful passing of one of our own, Julie Pellegrini on Thursday, November 30, 2017. She certainly was taken from us too early. Her memory will be kept alive through her husband, children, siblings, parents and grandchildren and the HR family.  A Visitation Service in memory of Julie will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017. Donations in memory of Julie can be made to the charity of your choice.

Once again the Department of Public Safety in partnership with the Toronto Police Service will be organizing and collecting toys for our annual #Santa9114Kids. Last year was a huge success! A big thanks goes to the Humber College Community.

We were able to collect and donate hundreds of toys to several local hospitals, families, and single parents in the GTA that needed some help during the holiday season.

Please bring a new unwrapped toy to the Department of Public Safety in NX101 (North Campus) and the M Building (Lakeshore Campus) by Monday, December 18, 2017. The Toys will be delivered between December 21-22, 2017.

Once again thank you for the continued support!

Today, Humber College and Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT) announced it was strengthening their partnership by launching a new exchange program in spring 2018. The announcement was made by Jia Xingdong, the President of SZPT and Alister Mathieson, Humber’s Vice President, Advancement and External Affairs, alongside Premier Kathleen Wynne who is currently on a two-week trade mission to China and Vietnam. The Premier also met with Humber students who are in Shenzhen working on a joint production of a film with faculty and SZPT students about a Humber-sponsored lecture tour featuring Dashan, a Canadian comedian with a huge following in China.

As we begin planning for the Winter 2018, I would like to inform you that Drew Harvey has left Humber College and the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences to pursue other opportunities. Before his departure, I thanked Drew for the  contributions he made to both our Pathways Programs and the School-College-Work Initiatives during his tenure as Associate Dean, Pathways Programs. Under his leadership, both our Dual Credit and General Arts and Science Programs have been recognized as leaders in the province.

Given the nature of his portfolio, many at Humber had the opportunity to work with Drew on a variety of initiatives during his time at Humber. I know that you join me in wishing him only the best in all of his future endeavors.

To ensure that the School-College-Work Initiatives and General Arts and Science programs continue to move forward, I will be overseeing these two departments until a permanent replacement is found. I am supported by a very dedicated team, and together we will ensure that those initiatives that Drew introduced and put in place over the last year, continue to progress.

Kindest regards,

Paula Gouveia, Dean
School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
