Most students will have to give presentations not only in school, but also when they enter the workforce. So why not offer them some valuable tips and tools for giving effective presentations? For this workshop, bring one of your own PowerPoint presentations on a USB, or prepare to pull it up on the Humber system. We'll work on:

  • What to say when you introduce your presentation
  • Where to stand and when to move
  • Using the hand held remote
  • Opening up your voice so all can hear you

You'll practice for a few minutes, and then try teaching what you learned to someone else in the group, with professional guidance.

Outcomes based learning ensures consistency, transparency, and rigor in the learning process. Learning outcomes act as a guide for educators and learners and indicate what the learners will know and do by the end of a specified course or program. They are meant to align teaching materials and assessments. In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of outcomes based learning and practice aligning curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners. Please bring a course outline from a course you teach to apply the principles.

Designing high quality questions is one of the most important aspects of survey development. The goal is to create questions that accurately measure the opinions, experiences and behaviour of the individuals in question. This process can be a delicate mixture of art and science. In this workshop, we will explore best practices and potential pitfalls to help you maximize the quality and utility of your data, in relation to the questions you are asking and the analyses you wish to perform.
