Please join us on Wednesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. to launch the Fall 2022 edition of HLR Spotlight.

HLR Spotlight is an online supplement to the Humber Literary Review that is entirely student-written and -edited.

For the upcoming issue, select students in Humber College's Creative Book Publishing program worked as handling editors for stories written by students in other Humber programs. The featured artist for this issue is Jasmine Cowan, a student in the Visual & Digital Arts program.

The Fall 2022 issue goes live on September 12.

The project is funded by Humber Research & Innovation.

Join Innovative Learning's Managing Reopening Anxiety facilitated by Rebecca Higgins. As we return to in-person classes, many are feeling anxious. In this session, we will consider how to recognize and manage reopening anxiety.

About the facilitator:

Rebecca Higgins has worked in community and social services for 20 years, specializing in mental health education since 2010. ​She has facilitated workshops on behalf of CMHA Toronto since 2015. Prior to that, she produced and delivered curricula, trainings and resources for CMHA Ottawa Branch and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). She has a Master's degree in Social Work and a BA in English. Her first book, a collection of short stories called The Colours of Birds is out now.

Bloody Boats workshop poster text

Join artist Akshata Naik and Humber Galleries in the creation of a new art installation in the LRC Concourse at Humber’s North Campus. Visitors are invited to take part in drop-in workshops to create origami paper boats that will become part of ‘Bloody Boats + Voyage I’ which will be on display in throughout the Fall semester.

When: Monday, September 12 to Friday, Septemeber 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: North Campus - LRC Concourse (first floor in front of Starbucks)

All are welcome to attend. No bookings, signups, or previous origami experience necessary.

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre will be hosting a closing celebration for artist Pat Rice's exhibition This Old Tree. We welcome guests to join us in our Third Floor Gallery space. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with remarks at 6:30 p.m. from our curator, Nadine Finlay and artist, Pat Rice. 

This event is free for all with no registration required. Light refreshments will be available.

Don’t miss the chance to explore the urban forests of Long Branch and learn about the inspiration behind the exhibition.
