Request a Continuation of Study
Learners are responsible for planning their time and completing all program requirements within a specific timeframe. See the Program Progression Requirements section of the Curriculum Policy for more details. Learners unable to complete the Real Estate Salesperson Program pre-registration phase within the 24-month timeframe and have successfully completed at least one pre-registration course and the corresponding exam, should apply for Education Equivalency Assessment. Program extension requests are reserved for unforeseen exceptional circumstances only and require back-up documentation.
Education Equivalency Assessment (Option for learners whose Pre-Registration Phase timeframe has lapsed)
The RECO Registrar has the authority to grant an exemption for a course(s) and corresponding exam(s), or simulation session(s) in the Real Estate Salesperson Program based on an educational equivalency. Learners that do not complete the Real Estate Salesperson Program within the 24-month time frame may be eligible to apply for education equivalency if they meet the following requirements:
- Completed the Real Estate Salesperson Program, or at least one (1) pre-registration course + examination at Humber Polytechnic in the past five (5) years.
Before submitting an Education Equivalency Assessment application to RECO, it is important to review the following points.
- Applications for Education Equivalency Assessment should only be submitted after the 24-month preregistration phase timeframe has lapsed, with no pending program components to complete.
- A copy of the learner’s education record must be submitted with the EEA application to RECO. See how to print an education record for steps.
- For an eLearning course to be eligible for an exemption, the corresponding exam must have been completed with a passing score.
For more information on education equivalency assessment and how to apply, please visit RECO’s website.

Learners with Exceptional Extenuating Circumstances
NOTE: Program Extensions are only granted for unforeseen exceptional circumstances that have directly caused a long-term interruption to studies. Appropriate supporting documentation must be provided.
A Program Extension may be requested by a learner who is at risk of not completing a Real Estate Education Program within the allowable timeframe due to an extenuating circumstance. Extension requests are only approved based on medical, psychological, or compassionate grounds and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation that demonstrates the impact and duration of the interruption to your studies is required. Applications submitted without supporting documentation will not be considered.
Extension applications must be submitted before the expiration of a phase or program (but no more than three months prior). If an extension request is not approved, learners will be required to re-start the program if they wish to continue their studies.
Learners with exceptional extenuating circumstances only, download and complete the Program Extension Request Form, then email the completed form along with the supporting documentation to reepforms@humber.ca.
Requesting Accommodations
Requesting Accommodations for Program Examinations
All accommodations requests for program examinations are managed by the assessment services provider (Meazure Learning). Review the Learner Examination Handbook for more information on how to submit an accommodation request for an exam.
Requesting Course or Program Accommodations
Learners in the Real Estate Education Programs who identify as having a disability may request accommodations by completing the request form below. Eligibility for disability-related academic accommodations is determined using an individualized approach in adherence with the Ontario Human Rights Code. Accommodations do not alter essential program requirements.
The program office will review the request form and will contact you when clarification or more information is needed. In some cases, an appointment with an Accessibility Consultant at Humber may be required.
Once accommodations are finalized, an accommodation confirmation letter will be issued listing the accommodations that you can use in the academic environment. Requests for accommodations must be sent and confirmed prior to registration in a program component. Advance notice is required to plan and arrange accommodations before the start of a course, or a simulation session.
To request accommodations, download and complete the following form. Once completed, email the form to REEPaccommodations@humber.ca for review by the Real Estate Education Program Office. Please allow 5-10 business days for processing.
