1511 is a faculty-lead, research-driven art project that honours the generations of patients of the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital Cemetery (now the Humber College Lakeshore Campus). In this unique project, second-year students from the Visual and Digital Arts program collaborated with the Lakeshore Ground Interpretive Centre and Among Friends, a community mental health organization with members who have personal histories tied to the psychiatric facility, to create a commemorative artwork based on the history of the site and its patients. To cultivate creative concepts, students sought the guidance of researchers, historians, artists, and most significantly, community members with direct ties/experiences with the psychiatric hospital.

#1 - MISSING OR INCORRECT BANKING INFORMATION

If you haven’t received a payment through HRMS in the past, then this message is for you!

In order to receive your salary deposit into your account at your financial institution, you must ensure your banking information is on the HRMS and is correct. Many employees are not entering their banking information correctly, so it is critically important that you follow the steps detailed below.

Login to the HRMS - Employee Direct Access (EDA) using your single sign-on ID and password. Link for HRMS Login can be found on the hrs.humber.ca website. Access your pay area by selecting the “pay” icon and then “payment methods”. Watch the embedded video “Add or Update Banking Information or Personal Payment Method” and follow the steps exactly as shown in the video to ensure accuracy.

# 2 - TIME ENTRY & APPROVAL

Some time cards and payroll payments were not completed for some employees because time cards were either not submitted or approved.

Employees: Be sure to select SUBMIT your time cards through the HRMS once you have completed your time entries for the week. Good practice is to do this every Friday, however, these submissions are due every second Friday by 2 p.m. (see payroll calendar for deadlines)

Managers: Be sure to review and select APPROVE for employee’s time cards through the HRMS every second Tuesday by 5 p.m. (see payroll calendar for deadlines)

Link for the payroll calendar can be found on the hrs.humber.ca website.

#3 - ONE TIME PAYMENTS

Payments to Active Employees: Managers must fully complete the “Payroll Authorizations Form” (PAF) including the FOAP for all requests, and email it to payroll@humber.ca

Payments to Non Employees: Managers must submit their spreadsheet to the HR Generalist supporting their client group.

Use this link to obtain a copy of the PAF: https://hrs.humber.ca/support/support-resources/benefitsresources/payroll.html

Humber College is seeking students, staff and faculty to join a Taskforce on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence. The Taskforce will work to ensure government compliance and continue to grow existing policy, support, and awareness initiatives currently taking place on campus.

The deadline to indicate your interest is Sunday, October 6, 2019.

Taskforce on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence mandate:

The taskforce is responsible for providing thoughtful, objective and strategic leadership to the implementation of sexual violence prevention, awareness and education initiatives, including policy development and supports.  A successful taskforce will see increased awareness and engagement that will result in improved results in the Student Voices Survey (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, 2018) over the next three years, and a culture of consent that is broadly understood and embraced by the campus community.

The main objectives of this Taskforce include:

  1. To provide a forum to discuss local and nation-wide trends, issues, and initiatives as they relate to sexual violence prevention on college campuses.
  2. To ensure that the college is in compliance with the legislative requirements outlined by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  3. To work collaboratively to guide and increase campus awareness efforts, initiatives and interventions that address and prevent sexual violence.

Time Commitment: Taskforce members are required to commit to, at least, two hours of in-person monthly meetings and 1-2 hours of working time per month for a minimum of one (1) academic year. Working Groups may be required to meet more frequently to complete projects.

Students: The work you do as a member of the Taskforce on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence can be added to your Co-Curricular Record (CCR). What is a CCR? A CCR is a formal document that showcases skill development that has taken place outside of the classroom. It’s a great way to highlight your on-campus involvement and the skills you have acquired along the way.

How to apply: Please complete the online application form.

Questions: If you have questions pertaining to the Taskforce on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence Call for Membership, please contact: the Office of Student Conduct at studentconduct@humber.ca. For information about the Office of Student Conduct: humber.ca/knowthecode.

Please note: The first Taskforce on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Violence meeting has been scheduled for October 31, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at North Campus. An email will be sent mid-October confirming membership on the Taskforce.
