Ontario Colleges Student Experience Survey

On Monday, June 6, Humber will launch the summer ‘Ontario College Student Experience Survey’ (OCSES) to all students in full-time, funded programming currently enrolled in semester two of a certificate or graduate certificate program (having started their studies in winter 2022). This survey will assess students’ experiences related to teaching and learning quality, program related knowledge and skills, work integrated learning (if applicable), and student services and resources. The results of the survey will allow the college to identify strengths and areas of improvement.

Students will receive an email invitation titled ‘Important: Your response needed to Humber’s Student Experience Survey.’ To promote the survey, participants will have the option to enter a draw for a chance to win one of two $100 e-gift cards of their choice.

For questions about the survey, please contact Jean O’Donnell at Jean.o’donnell@humber.ca. Student’s questions about the survey can be directed to iresearch@humber.ca.

Hello Humber,

With Dr. Chris Whitaker’s decision to retire at the end of June, we began the search last fall for the college’s next president and Chief Executive Officer.

Today, I am delighted to share that Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan will be Humber’s new president and CEO. Dr. Vaughan is the first woman to hold the position and the fifth president and CEO in Humber’s history.

Dr. Vaughan is a distinguished and nationally recognized life-long learner. She brings more than 30 years of post-secondary success and experience to Humber. She is known for driving innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development through applied research, unique hands-on experiential learning opportunities, and industry partnerships.

Dr. Vaughan comes to Humber from Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario where she has been president and CEO since 2016, and successfully drove an ambitious growth plan that strengthened Loyalist’s financial positioning, and saw the College take on a new strategic direction. Prior to that she was the president and CEO of the College of the North Atlantic, in Newfoundland and Labrador, from 2011-2016. In 2015, she was recognized as a Top 50 CEO in Atlantic Canada.

Dr. Vaughan holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University; certificates in Public Administration and Business from Memorial University; a Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of British Columbia, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management from York University/Memorial University. She received her doctorate in higher education leadership from the University of Calgary in 2015.

Dr. Vaughan will begin her presidency at Humber on August 29, 2022.

Humber issued a media release this morning and I encourage you to read more about Dr. Vaughan there and on the Presidential Search webpage.

As the longest serving member of the Executive Team, Jason Hunter, Vice-President, Students and Institutional Planning will serve as acting president between July 1 and August 28, 2022.

On behalf of the Board of Governors and as the Chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, I would like to thank all those who provided feedback during consultations as well as all committee members for your time and insight.

With so much underway across our physical and digital campuses, it is exciting to know that Humber will enter the 2022-23 academic year with new leadership.

Take care,

Ana Fernandes

Chair, Humber College Board of Governors

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Sandra Henry, financial aid officer.

Sandra started her career with Humber over 35 years ago and has held a variety of positions across the college but most notably that of Financial Aid Officer in the Office of the Registrar.

Sandra is known for being reliable and dependable but her greatest attribute is her kindness. Sandra’s laugh is contagious and her smile warms your heart.

Over the last 35 years with Humber, Sandra has helped a countless number of students and staff, and her commitment to Humber has been admirable.

Sandra plans to enjoy her retirement by spending time with her family, and specifically her grandchildren.

Please join me in congratulating Sandra on a great career and wish her well in her retirement.

Daniel Castillo-Sanchez
Manager, Financial Aid
Office of the Registrar
