The provision, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages on campus is subject to the regulations of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and the Liquor License Act of Ontario. Humber is licensed to serve alcoholic beverages only in the designated areas listed below and only under the supervision of Food Services and the Longo Faculty of Business.

As Humber is under one Liquor License for each campus, any single violation may result in the loss of the Humber license for all locations within the respective campus severely impacting on the delivery of academic programs and other non-academic events.

The Journal of Innovation in Polytechnic Education (JIPE) is pleased to announce the publication of “Clustering Ontario Renters” by Anthony Piscitelli, PhD.

Abstract:

A survey conducted in the Canadian province of Ontario was used to identify five groups of renters through factor analysis and cluster analysis. 1) Former Buyers are older individuals who have purchased in the past or explored purchasing and are now renting. 2) Active Buyers are individuals who are planning to buy and have taken steps, such as securing pre-approval on a mortgage, to begin to find a home to purchase. 3) Planning Buyers plan to purchase a home but have yet to take active steps. 4) Considering Planning are individuals who may or may not someday purchase a home. 5) Not Planning are individuals who do not believe they will ever own a home. These groups are compared to measure attitudes toward their homes, neighbourhoods, civic issues, and well-being.

Calendar with dates of Grab 'n Go Food Bank

The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce that the FLAS Grab 'n Go Food Bank is open for the Fall 2025 term at the North Campus!

The Grab 'n Go Food Bank cart is located on the 5th floor of the LRC outside of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and will be available on a rotating schedule throughout the Fall term.

For September, food will be available on:

  • Thursday, September 18
  • Friday, September 26
  • Monday, September 29

How does the Food Bank work?

  1. Members of the Humber community who are experiencing food insecurity or hardship are encouraged to stop by the FLAS Office during business hours on the dates listed above.
  2. There they will encounter a cart with a selection of non-perishable food items.
  3. They can take what they need. It's that easy!

Can I help?

Yes! The FLAS Grab 'n Go Food Bank is a faculty-driven initiative intended to help fight food insecurity in our Humber community. If you would like to contribute, food donations are always welcome and appreciated. All donations can be dropped off at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Together, let's help fight food insecurity and ensure all members of our Humber community have access to food.

To the Humber Community,

The College Employer Council has posted "Strike Day 5 - Parties at a standsill" on its site.

Please Note:

The College Employer Council (CEC) is the government mandated bargaining agent for the 24 Ontario publicly funded Colleges that negotiate collective agreements with unionized staff. This information is being distributed on behalf of the CEC.

We recognize that bargaining updates may contain strong language and reflect the perspectives of the parties involved. While the message above is a direct release from the CEC, our goal in sharing it is to keep our community informed of developments that may impact operations and the student experience.

We remain committed to respectful dialogue, transparency, and supporting all members of our campus community during this time. We will continue to provide updates as they become available and encourage everyone to stay informed through official channels.

With the challenges facing Canada’s economy, as well as a decades old productivity crisis, Humber Polytechnic is stepping up with a bold and timely solution with the launch of its first-ever Master’s program: Master of Engineering in Advanced Manufacturing. This new credential places Humber in line with leading global institutions delivering practical, industry-relevant master’s education, and it’s one of the first to be launched under Ontario’s new framework for non-university Master’s programs.

The program was designed in collaboration with industry to fill critical talent gaps and boost innovation, automation, and competitiveness in Ontario’s manufacturing sector.

As the only Master’s in Ontario focused entirely on solving real-world industry challenges through hands-on learning and research, graduates will be equipped to lead in areas such as smart manufacturing, robotics, and production optimization. These focus areas have been deliberately chosen as they are key drivers in solving Canada’s lagging productivity.
