Lectern QR Code

Information Technology Services is excited to introduce QR code scanning for in-classroom technical support. Using your mobile device camera and photo app, Faculty can now scan QR codes (located on or near the lectern) for a quicker, more efficient AV technical support experience. With a simple scan, faculty can report an issue and a technician is immediately dispatched.

Use your mobile device camera to scan the QR Code or visit humber.ca/avsupport.

Today, the Government of Ontario announced that it is invoking a state-of-emergency effective immediately for a period of at least 28 days. The province is also enacting stay-at-home orders effective as of Thursday, January 14 at 12:01 a.m. Please see the full announcement here.

Humber is continuing to plan for Winter 2021 classes scheduled to begin on January 18, based on Ontario government information about post-secondary education that accompanied the announcement.

The Humber Child Care Centre will remain open.

Residence will remain open with move-in days proceeding as scheduled.

Staff on campus must continue to be limited to only those necessary for the delivery of in-person learning and essential campus operations.

We are assessing these latest health and safety measures, and will update the Humber community in the coming days on any impacts on college operations and academic delivery.

Flags at Half-Staff at North Campus

In recognition of the first anniversary of the tragedy of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, colleges, polytechnics, and universities across Canada are remembering those lost.

Today, Humber College lowered our flags to half-staff to remember those aboard Flight 752.

More than 20 post-secondary institutions lost students and faculty when the plane crashed in Tehran in early 2020.

The COVID-19 Resuming On-campus Operations Steering Committee, which was established in the spring, has concluded its work. The committee was created to plan and lead the implementation of all initiatives related to the reopening of campus facilities and the return of staff and students to campus after the full spring 2021 campus closure.

Any items that were in the scope of the Steering Committee have now been transferred to the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

Some of the associated subcommittees, like the COVID-19 Watch and Monitoring subcommittee, will continue to operate and report into the EOC.

Thank you to Gina Antonacci, AVP Academic and Angelo Presta, Senior Director, Capital Development and Facilities for co-chairing the Steering Committee and to all those who have supported its work.

The Teaching in a Digital World Certificate (TDWC) program is designed to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners with varying degrees of teaching experience in the online and/or hybrid environment. While teaching in an online environment shares many characteristics with face-to-face teaching, it is a fundamentally different educational experience for instructors and students. The certificate is designed to develop essential online teaching competencies and engage participants as a learner, facilitator, and beginner developer.

Note: Registration is restricted to current Humber faculty only.
