Our ITS team is dedicated to providing you with the tools and support you need to succeed in your roles. Here are some of the key services we offer: 

Free, Secure Wi-Fi:  Eduroam is a secure, high-speed, wireless, Internet solution available across all Humber campuses (including Guelph-Humber) for use by Humber and Guelph-Humber students, employees, suppliers, and guest Humber accounts. 

Your Eduroam username is your Humber username with “@humber.ca” tacked to the end. Example: n12345678@humber.ca. 

ONECard: Introducing the Humber and University of Guelph-Humber Virtual ONECard. ONECard is a smartphone application that serves as your digital identification, digital key, and digital wallet solution for campus-wide services. It’s free, easy to use, and secure. Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) & Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Protecting your account has never been easier. MFA and SSPR help keep your account secure by adding additional forms of authentication when logging in. Even if someone steals your password, they cannot access your account unless they also have your mobile device or authenticator app. Learn more about SSPR and MFA at the Get Secure website. 

Urgent In-Classroom AV Technical Support: Using your mobile device camera and photo app, faculty can now scan QR codes (located on or near the lectern) for a quicker more efficient AV technical support experience. With a simple scan, faculty can report an issue and a technician is immediately dispatched. Use your mobile device camera to scan the QR Code or visit humber.ca/avsupport. 

Microsoft 365: Humber staff and faculty have access to a variety of Microsoft 365 applications. This service includes popular tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, along with additional resources for collaboration and productivity. You can work from anywhere at any time and collaborate seamlessly with colleagues. Microsoft Outlook serves as Humber’s email tool, providing robust email, calendar, contact, and task management capabilities. Protect your important files with OneDrive, our secure file storage solution that allows you to store, access, and share your documents safely. Visit humber.ca/microsoft365 to log in. 

Microsoft Teams: Meetings in Microsoft Teams allow for audio, video, and document sharing. Most laptops or tablets have cameras and microphones already installed, making it easy to connect and collaborate. Additionally, Teams Voice is now available for staff, providing a comprehensive communication solution. Visit the Teams Voice website to learn more. 

Humber TV: Stay informed about campus events and updates with our digital signage. With over one hundred individual screen locations on campus, including twelve large-scale video walls, Humber TV keeps you connected with what's happening around you. 

Laptop Loans: Forgot your laptop at home? Is your laptop broken? Humber ITS offers a laptop loan service for staff and faculty. You can borrow a laptop for short-term use by visiting the Tech Zone. This service ensures you have the necessary tools to continue your work without interruption. 

Campus Compass: If you’re navigating Humber’s campuses, the Campus Compass app is your go-to tool. It helps you find classrooms, services, and amenities across North, Lakeshore, University of Guelph-Humber, and International Graduate School locations. With indoor wayfinding technology and accessible route options, getting around is a breeze. Visit the Campus Compass website to download the app today.

This Alumni Spotlight on Community and Justice Services grad Scarlett Delgado packs a punch.

Scarlett is a top-tier athlete with Boxing Canada whose motivational story encompasses the power of sport, discipline and perseverance through challenges and triumphs.

Throughout her career and life, Scarlett has leveraged the teachings of mentors, coaches and Humber professors to make her the well-rounded person and role model she is today.

She continuously gives back to others and represents herself inside and outside the ring with class and professionalism - and she has the medals and belts to prove it!

1. Instructional Design
2. Flexible grading
3. Learner progression and personalized experience

Instructional Design

Knowledge Checks in Ultra Documents

Knowledge checks allow students to engage with content and receive immediate feedback, and the new block-based content designer has a knowledge check block included!

This is what a Knowledge Check block will look like for students:

Instructors can access detailed metrics including:

• Number of students participating
• Total number of attempts
• Percentage of students selecting each answer option
• and others!

These metrics look like this:

Course Content Page Enhancements

The new design incorporates:

• Subtle gradients and softer edges
• A more cohesive color palette with inviting, warmer tones
• More intuitive navigation, which reduces cognitive load and increases focus on the content

Anthology has also improved the differentiation among learning modules, folders, and content items in Blackboard Ultra because it is sometimes challenging to distinguish among these elements.

This is what the content will look like from the student’s perspective:

AI Conversation

Anthology is launching a new activity called AI Conversation in Blackboard Ultra. This is a Socratic questioning exercise guided by AI, allowing students to explore their thoughts on a topic.

There are two elements to the activity:

• AI Conversation
  • This lets students think critically about the topic that you, as the instructor, designs.
• Reflection question
  • This asks the student to share their thoughts on the activity.

Instructors have the following configuration options:

• A topic for the AI Conversation and an AI persona including a name, avatar, and personality trait
• Complexity level of responses
• Edit the reflection question, guiding the student on how best to reflect on this activity

Flexible Grading

Exclude attempt when grading

Anthology has added a new option to help instructors remove submissions from the grading workflow without having to delete them in Blackboard Ultra. When grading a student, you can now select Exclude Attempt to remove it from the Needs Grading workflow.

We also added a new gradebook Overview tab to improve task orientation and grading efficiency. This tab contains two sections: Needs Grading (allows you to see all items ready for grading and a count of the total number of outstanding grading tasks in your course) and Needs Posting (increases accessibility and visibility of assessments that have been assigned grades, but that need to be posted).

Learner progression and personalized experience

The Student Overview page has a student activity log which instructors can use to check what a particular student did in a course.

The Activity log can be filtered by event type and can look to the past 140 days. The following events can be found in the report:

• Course Access
• Assessment Started
• Assessment Submitted
• Discussion Response
• Document Access
• Journal Access
• LTI Item Access
• SCORM item Access
• and others!
