Logo saying Healthy You, the O in the word You is a heart divided into 4 colours representing 4 areas of health.

4 colour heart outline with the word Health in the centre. The words Financial, Social, Mental and Physical surround it.

At Humber, we value the health and well-being of our staff and students and want to support YOU every step of the way.

To support this commitment, Humber has an online Healthy Community Hub that is a central site for well-being resources for students and employees. There is an Employee Resources page that highlights all the resources available to support physical, mental, financial, and social well-being.

The Hub also includes Humber’s Well-being Strategy, which sets out the principles, framework, and goals to support the health and well-being of its students, employees and community.

The GIVEAWAY!

For many, the holiday season is a time for cozy meals and holiday activities with friends and family and giving back to the community. We would love to know how our employees plan to prioritize their well-being over the holiday season, whether it be physically, mentally, financially, and/or socially.

To enter the giveaway, email us at oe@humber.ca with "Healthy YOU Giveaway" as the subject line and tell us how you plan to prioritize your well-being over the holiday season. Employees who participate will be entered into a random draw to win 1 of 3 gift card giveaways.

We would love to share with the Humber Community how employees are prioritizing their well-being over the holiday season, so in your email, please include whether you give us permission to share your response anonymously (names will not be included).

The deadline to enter is Friday, December 15, 2023 at 5 p.m.

The draw will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 and winners will be notified via email.

We appreciate your participation and hope you stay well.

About the Registry (Article 26.10 D & E)

The Partial-Load Registry enables current or previously employed partial-load employees of Humber College to register their interest in being employed as a partial-load faculty for specified academic terms. Registered partial-load employees will be eligible for priority hiring for available partial-load work based on the criteria set out in Article 26.10 E of the Academic Employees Collective Agreement. As a result of the most recent changes introduced in the current Academic Collective Agreement (Article 26.10 E), you will be asked to indicate the maximum Teaching Contact Hours you are prepared to teach for the academic year.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The registration deadline is April 30 of each year for the following Academic Year (September - August)

When Do I Register?

  • Registration opens on Friday, December 1, 2023
  • The deadline to register is April 30, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

Note: Registering in previous years does not automatically register you for the upcoming year, therefore registration is required on a yearly basis.

Where Do I Register?

What do I need to Register?

  • Your Humber employee number AND your N number.
  • Your Humber employee number can be found on your pay stub, or you can ask your manager.
  • Your N number is used to log into the system. If you do not know your N number, please contact I.T. Support Centre.

Submission Confirmation

  • When you submit your interest, you will be placed onto the registry.
  • Once you register, you will receive an email confirmation. Please retain this confirmation for your records.
  • If a confirmation email is not received in either your inbox or junk mail folder, please contact the HR Support Centre without delay.
  • Only those who meet the criteria as outlined in Article 26.10 E. of the Academic Employees Collective Agreement, will get priority in hiring.

Please note: The hours you indicate that you are prepared to teach will not guarantee a corresponding work assignment. The College will review as per the terms of the Collective Agreement and operational requirements.

Questions?

For more information, please review the Employee Partial-Load FAQs webpage.

Should you have any questions about the Partial-Load Registry procedures, or eligibility, please speak with your Associate Dean, or your union (info@opseu562.org).

In the event you experience any problems as you register, please contact the HR Support Centre (416.675.5001 or visit humber.ca/hrchat), so that Sara Abada, Labour Relations Coordinator can promptly review.

The College and Union highly encourage all Partial-Load Faculty to complete the process for the Partial-Load Registry.

We look forward to having you register your interest for future partial-load employment. Thank you for all your contributions to Humber College.

Eight individuals including Humber's seven Premier's Awards nominees and Humber President and CEO Ann Marie Vaughan posing for a photo holding plaques.

November 27 was a night to remember for the Humber community as colleges across Ontario gathered for the 2023 Premier's Awards.

Out of 117 nominees in seven categories, two Humber alumni were announced winners - Carrie Baker (Business) and Michael Sanderson (Health Sciences).

Carrie is a Public Relations graduate and the President of Canada Goose, overseeing the company's commercial business and brand and driving its global growth. She played a pivotal role in establishing Canada Goose’s communications strategy, helping to lead its IPO in 2017 and creating its industry-leading Sustainable Impact Strategy. In 2019, Carrie was named WXN Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada and one of Canada’s 50 Best Executives by The Globe and Mail in 2020.

Michael Sanderson is a graduate of Humber’s Ambulance and Emergency Care program and the Chief and Director of Hamilton Paramedic Service, overseeing 440 staff and ensuring a high level of clinical, operational, and financial performance. Over a 50-year career in Emergency Medical Services, Michael has been a paramedic, educator, and leader at local, provincial, national, and international levels. While Executive Director at BC Ambulance, he led all EMS activities for the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and he currently serves as president of the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC).

Humber's nominees in other categories included Kenneth Fowler (Apprenticeship), Deepa Mattoo (Community Services), Matthew Burnett (Creative Arts and Design), Anna Simone (Technology), and Lisa Post (Recent Graduate).

We are proud of all of our nominees who stand as leaders and difference-makers in their respective industries and continue to make a significant impact in their communities.

Humber has now had a winner at the Premier's Awards for seven consecutive years and 12 winners since 2011.

Are you interested in being a part of a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) at Humber? If so, Humber’s JOHSCs are looking for new members!

The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) is an advisory body that is made up of worker (Faculty and Support Staff) and management (Administration) members who work together to address and promote health and safety in the workplace.
