Supporting the mental health and well-being of our students is not just important, it's essential. That’s why we’ve partnered with Togetherall.
Togetherall’s online community is clinically moderated by mental health professionals and offers students a safe and anonymous place to express their thoughts, concerns and successes. Resources are free for students (aged 16+) to use and are available 24/7/365. Students are able to draw strength and insights from peers that have real lived experiences, as well as access a range of self-directed, clinically validated tools to promote positive mental health and well-being. Togetherall integrates with Humber's existing campus mental health services and after-hours supports.

Ten years after their legendary short-handed championship win at Seaway Park, the Humber Hawks men’s soccer team returned to the same pitch and once again captured national glory, defeating the host Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers 2–1 in the 2025 CCAA gold medal match.
The victory marked Humber’s 11th national title—and ninth since 2012—cementing its status as the most dominant program in Canadian collegiate soccer. The story tied together the program’s proud lineage, from Hall of Famer Germain Sanchez and dynasty-builder Michael Aquino to new head coach Jason Mesa, who has been a member for ten of Humber's national titles.

I am excited to announce that Dr. Mitra Gorjipour will take on the role of associate dean, Social and Community in the Faculty of Social and Community Services (FSCS). Mitra brings a breadth of experience in higher education, having held positions at the University of Toronto, Seneca Polytechnic, Niagara College, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and Humber Polytechnic.
Mitra first joined Humber Polytechnic in 2017, serving as an accessibility consultant, and later on as an academic program manager with the FSCS. Over the past four years, Mitra has served as associate dean at Niagara College and later Kwantlen Polytechnic University where she led diverse portfolios. Through these roles, she has supported projects to embed work-integrated learning into curriculum; guided program reviews, revisions, and the development of new programs; provided leadership in building pathways into post-secondary education; and collaborated with faculty, and community, to advance the decolonization of curriculum.
Mitra holds a bachelor of science in psychology and a master of education in developmental psychology & education from the University of Toronto, as well as a doctor of education in higher education leadership from the University of Western Ontario.
Please join me in welcoming Mitra back to the FSCS, and congratulating her as she begins her new role on November 24.

Journal of Innovation in Polytechnic Education (JIPE) is pleased to announce the publication of “Extremism in European Football: Historical and Contemporary Review of Nine Countries” by Jon Deighton, AdvDip.
Abstract:
Political and public extremism is present in many facets of everyday life. This is no different in professional sport, where fans embolden themselves as a collective unit of a particular commonality: the team, country, or political structure(s). Fan extremism represents the collectivization of political extremism, whereby fans use sport to justify public displays of far-right ideologies, racism, and bigotry under the guise of hooliganism. This targeted review explores the early roots of the relationship between 20th-century fascism, how authoritarians manipulated football across Europe, the growth of football extremism in counterculture across multiple European countries with or without a direct history of fascist leaders, and its manifestation and intersectionality in 21st-century society. Research demonstrates that fan extremism is prevalent in countries that were ruled by fascist dictators, countries ruled by oppressive Communist regimes whose people fought against socialism with fascist ideology, and countries that experienced neither form of authoritarianism, thus raising a question for further research: Is fascist ideology, authoritarianism, or the resistance against authoritarian regimes inherently required to create a culture (or counterculture) of far-right fan extremism in sport?
