Refund Information - Continuous Professional Learning
Generally $25 of the fee is non-refundable unless Humber cancels the course. However, some courses have unique refund policies (such as those offered by the Transportation Training Centre). Please be sure you understand the refund policy before you register.
If Humber cancels the course, a full refund will be granted. If you decide to Drop, Transfer or Withdraw from your course, you must
do this by logging into the CPL Learner Portal before the date listed under Important Dates on this webpage. Drop/Transfer/Withdraw deadlines are also posted in the Learner Portal and are noted in your Registration Receipt email.
Note: Leaving an email or phone message to request a Drop, Transfer or Withdrawal is not acceptable and will not be processed.
There are exceptions to this policy for some courses/programs (such as those offered by the Transportation Training Centre where Drop/Transfer/Withdrawal is permitted up to 21 days prior to the course start date only by written email request submitted to truck.info@humber.ca).
For Refunds, where payment was made by Visa or MasterCard, a credit will be applied to the credit card that was used.

Refund Deadline

The Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is offered in partnership with the National Payroll Institute. This program prepares payroll practitioners to manage the compliance requirements of an organization's annual payroll cycle, deliver clear and reliable payroll information, and contribute a payroll perspective to organizational policy and strategy discussions. When you become receive your designation, you join a growing community of supportive professionals and gain access to the resources you need to stay current and compliant.
Compulsory courses can only be taken one at a time and must be taken in sequence. Courses are in a blended format. Students are required to have access to a computer and the internet.
Registration
In addition to registration and payment of tuition to Humber Polytechnic, learners must register and pay the institute’s applicable (s) for each course. Registration forms complete with payment, must be submitted to National Payroll Institute no later than two weeks prior to the course start date in order to ensure timely delivery of printed course material. PCP Certification Requirements

students must achieve a minimum grade of 65 per cent on both the final examination and 65 per cent on the course to pass.
All courses and electives require a passing grade of 65% in order to be accepted towards the designation. Prior to receiving designation from the National Payroll Institute, students must have at least one year of work experience. Part-time students can obtain the work experience requirement within five years before or five years after the start date of their first successful attempt at the Payroll Compliance Legislation course.
Humber's Payroll courses are now OSAP eligible.
Learners enrolled in an Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) approved micro-credential program can apply for financial assistance through OSAP for Micro-credentials. Eligible students must apply for funding for each course separately by following the step-by-step application process. Applications for OSAP for Micro-credential assistance cannot overlap with another micro-credential study period (funding for multiple courses cannot be applied for concurrently).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for funding through the OSAP for Micro-credentials courses, you must meet the criteria below as well as certain residency and income requirements specified on the OSAP website:
HPCP 210 - Payroll Fundamentals 1 (Pre-requisite is HPCP 211)
HPCP 212 - Payroll Fundamentals 2 (Pre-requisite is HPCP 210)
Must be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP program
Previous OSAP loans must be in good standing (i.e. you have not defaulted on a student loan and/or you are not restricted from participating in financial aid programs)
Applying for OSAP funding for Humber micro-credential courses
Confirm that the Humber micro-credential course you want to take is OSAP-approved.
Log in to your OSAP account. If this is your first time applying for OSAP, you may need to create an account.
Select and complete the micro-credential OSAP application. You can only be funded for one course at a time through OSAP.
The deadline to apply for OSAP is the last day of your micro-credential course.
Scan, upload, and submit all required supporting documentation to your OSAP application.
Enrol in and pay for the micro-credential course you wish to take (if you have not already done so). Please note that funding is sent directly to the learner by the National Student Loans Centre for Micro-Credentials. Payment for the course must be made at the time of registration.
Once the course has started, we will confirm your enrolment and OSAP funds will be released to your bank account.
a student cannot receive OSAP funding for a micro-credential study period if it overlaps with another one of their micro-credential study period in which they are concurrently receiving micro-credential OSAP funding. So students can only receive micro-credential OSAP funding for one course at a time.

HPCP 210Payroll Fundamentals 1
Start Date: January 2025
This course is the second requirement for the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification. Upon completion of Payroll Fundamentals 1, you will be able to calculate regular individual pay, non-regular individual pay and termination payments, complete a Record of Employment (ROE), and communicate all aspects of individual pay requirements to various stakeholders.
This course is the first requirement for the NPI's Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification. Upon completion of Payroll Compliance Legislation (PCL), you will have a thorough understanding of the compliance requirements and will be able to describe payroll's objectives and stakeholders, identify an employer/employee relationship, apply federal and provincial legislation to payroll, and communicate the payroll compliance requirements to various stakeholders.
This course is the third requirement for the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification. Upon completion of Payroll Fundamentals 2, you will be able to calculate organizational remittances to federal, provincial and third party stakeholders; prepare accounting documentation for payroll; complete year-end documentation; and communicate all aspects of organizational remittances, accounting and year-end requirements to internal, external and government stakeholders.
This course introduces the student to how accounting information is used, and how it meets the needs of both internal and external users through effective and efficient communication, as well as what accounting information is required by a business concern to clearly reflect the operating results of the enterprise over its operating life. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to generally accepted accounting principles, the interpretation and preparation of financial statements, and how this information is recorded in the various business records.
