Humber is committed to maintaining a safe work and study environment through ongoing compliance and conformance with health and safety legislation and adherence to Humber’s health and safety program.
Occupational Health & Safety Services provides leadership in this area by developing corporate health and safety policies, programs and procedures. Relevant policies include Humber’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Workplace Violence Prevention Policy and Smoking Policy.
Occupational Health & Safety Services works with the various schools and departments within Humber to achieve legislative compliance by providing training, advice and technical expertise and responding to health and safety issues as they arise. Occupational Health & Safety Services also acts as a resource to Humber’s Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
Occupational Health & Safety Services ensures compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) requirements regarding work-related injuries by coordinating the accident investigation process and managing the WSIB claims and return to work processes for Humber.
Compliance with environmental legislation pertinent to hazardous materials is achieved by overseeing Humber’s Workplace Hazardous Materials program, coordinating spills response and managing hazardous waste disposal for the college.
