TRAINING OFFERED BY DPS

The Department of Public Safety offers various types of training to community members. See below for the types of training offered and contact information to arrange training.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TRAINING

RUN HIDE DEFEND – Active attacker response training – for all community members to know and understand how to respond to the unlikely event of an active attacker incident.

General Emergency Preparedness Training – for all community members to know and understand how to respond to emergencies such as severe weather, fire, flooding, power outages, etc.

Emergency Response Team Training – For identified members of the Emergency Response Team – outlines roles and responsibilities before, during, and after an emergency.

IMS100 – For specific individuals identified as having a role to play in the response to an emergency.

IMS200 – For specific individuals identified as having a role to play in the response to an emergency.

IMS for the EOC – For specific senior administration staff identified in having a role to play in managing the institutional response to an emergency.

GENERAL SECURITY TRAINING

Conflict Management - using verbal de-escalation to manage stressful situations.

STOP HARM Violence Minimization - training on managing conflict, crisis, and confrontations including physical skills. 

RAD Self-Defense training -using physical skills to defend against abduction.
